hi everyone

I'm sure there's a way of being able to select all components of a single layer with the magic wand, but I can't remember the shortcut! can anyone help.

for example, if Layer 1 was a white background and Layer 2 was made up of 20 black circles... if you want to select all 20 black circles with the magic wand, you don't have to click 20 times on each circle? I'm sure there's something you can do to click one and all 20 circles are selected?

Select the magic wand tool and then untick contiguous in the options.

fantastic thank you, will give it a go! sounds familiar...

If you want to select all elements on a single layer, simply hold down CTRL (or the Command key on a Mac) and click on the layer name in the Layers palette. That selects everything on the layer. I'm curious as to why you specifically want to use the Magic Wand for this though?
