Hi folks.

Really quick question here ....

As something for work I need to print a picture with a gridline over it.

I have the image open in PS, and have the grid view placed over it . Is there anyway I can print so that the grid outline shows up? Currently pressing print, prints the image without the lines.

Someone out there will no doubt have a super quick answer to this - so thanks in advance!

Theres not really a quick fix for that i dont think..

The only two ways i can think of is either take a screen grab
of the pic you want with the grid over it and try and get a
print from that.

Or you will have to define a pattern

Make the initial square of the pattern the size of the grid cell you
want and put a pixel line on top and one side of that square.

Make a new layer and select Edit > Fill and select the pattern you
just defined. Use Select > Select by Color and select the background
of your grid, and then Delete.

Your grid will then be set to a transparent background so you can
place it over top of your background image.

.

how many gridlines do you want? - go into preferences and select Guides, Grid & Slices and put 33.33333 percent and you'll get the rule of 3rds ;)

make a new layer

grab the pencil tool, make it say 4px and then click on 1 side of the image (with whatever colour you want to use) hold down SHIFT and click on the opposite side of the image and you will get a straight line 4px wide.. release SHIFT, click the next line down and repeat..

do that for the horizontals and verticals and you're done :)

alternate way of doing 3rds is to use the PEN tool

in the options palette click on the custom shape icon and in the shape drop down select the grid.

click one end and drag it to the other and you'll get instant 3rds grid :)

Cheers folks - did the screen grab in the end and a simple resize job.

Thought it would have been easier than it was!

Cheers
