Photoshop elements 9

I have recently purchsed photoshop elements 9 and was wondering if i still needed all the software on my pc that came with my 1000d , as my pc is so slow and freeing up some of the memory may help.

Are you starting the Canon software and PSE9 at the same time. This will certainly use up memory. You only really need PSE9 running if you are using that program.

Have a look to see how much disk space you have. As programs use some disk space as swop files limited free disk space can slow things down. Also run fragmentation to tidy up the hard drive. Badly fragmented drives cab have an affect on performance.

I have defraged the harddrive etc but was wondering if I can delet the canon software and just use Photoshop instead

Yes. You don't need the Canon s/w installed once PSE9 is on. I'd uninstall it rather than just deleting directories though...
