I bought this several years ago and is installed on my old pc. Never used it a great deal with my various Lumix FZ's I have had.

With the impending delivery of my 550D, will Elements 5 be ok to use with it? Or has it advanced so much I would need to get a newer version.

Also, when it comes to shooting in RAW, is the sofware that comes with the Canon ok for this, or is there a more suitable one for a raw novice, excuse the pun!

I don't think that elements 5 will handle the 550D RAW files , you'll have to convert them using the canon software first

I see we are up to Elements 9. There is also a Premiere version, any ideas on the differences?

Elements 9 would be a better option ;)

You will be able to use elements 5 as long as you have the latest update 4.2 for camera raw it will support dng, you'll have to download the latest dng converter to convert your 550d raw files to dng (adobe raw) then your elements will open those.
Note you need the 4.2 update for the latest camera raw for elements 5, and the 6.3 converter to convert your 550d raw first.

I believe the premiere version allows you to edit video
 
yes it does- thats why I opted for Photoshop Elements 9 a steal at £59.95

So would Elements 9 take the raw images straight from the Canon?
 
If the 550D ever turns up! I see it is out for delivery again today!
