I took (originals) of these and whatever setting I use PS CS6 just wont accept these 3 images of a jet trail over from Birling gap as capable of being joined as a panorama!

Stitch in Zoombrowser works but doesn't "blend" the slightly different exposures.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks, Mel

Hi, Maybe wrong here but looking at the images the first one does not look as though it belongs in the sequence the headland looks to me to be to thin (for want of a better word) to fit to the middle one. I tried in elements twice and got the same result.

The reason the software can't do the stitch is that there simply aren't enough distinctive features in the images to allow it to work out how to line them up properly.

You'll have to do it by eye. Fix the exposure in the second image, crop the images in the overlap area so that you're not trying to align on the edge of an image where any lens distortion and softness is most evident, and then layer them manually. This is what I got with about 2 minutes effort:

Obviously the waves won't align from one image to the next but if you're clever you can try to blend / clone them to make the transitions look less abrupt.

Hugin does a fair job of correcting the exposure differences.....

Obviously with few references points to align to (not helped by the small images), lining up the images is tricky. Post up links to the full size versions and I'm sure it could be done.

Obviously, fixed settings across all shots will make life easier - and the more shots, the better generally. If not using tripod try to pivot yourself around a fixed point, and take all shots in as close a time period as possible.

Thanks guys - will try Hugin. Also on the point the there weren't enough points I lightened the cliffs in Lightroom and then PS worked.

On the trails - it must have been circling from Gatwick or Heathrow - saw some more trailsdriving home!
