Why do my pictures at certain zoom levels display as squares? I can try to get a screen shot to explain this if needed?

Over 500% magnification, the image’s pixel grid will become visible. To hide the grid
go to View - Show, and deselect Pixel Grid.

Because pixels that make up a digital image are square and once you get way beyond 100% viewing that is what you are seeing.

No it actually does when zoomed out as well

Hmmm, could be that your card drivers need updating or try disabling the open GL drawing thingy, edit-preferences-performance, see if that makes any difference.
