And it looks like we are being taken to the cleaners once again

US price=$699 (which equals £454)
UK price=£643 or £663

So they are ripping us off to the tune of £200-outright software piracy on Adobe's behalf if you ask me.

After living off trials for the last few versions, I am intending to buy this one - though I'll wait to see how the Photoshop CS5 / Lightroom 3 integration works out. IMHO the CS4/LR2 integration feels clunky - but that's probably because I'm not disciplined to use LR for much more than importing and a few tweaks in the develop module!

CS5's native lens correction, content-aware fill and puppet warp look great. But it all does :-) But I'm annoyed that I just bought Photomatix and it looks like most of its features will be in CS5's HDR functionality!

I really didn't like the change from CS3 to CS4 but I think for photographers, this is actually quite an exciting release :)

Slightly out - as there is no VAT on US price - so that brings it up to about £550 (on a actual exchange rate you'd get)

Now remember we get a localised version - so colour instead of color and local sales people (but then again - they'd have to have them in the US as well)

is it worth having colour spelt correctly for £100?

A few years ago Fuji brought out the S5 - and it had a world price - so the only variations came from local taxation and exchange variations.

So what's your excuse Adobe?

I had an email this morning to say mine had been shipped!

Hmm interesting, where are you getting it from?

Everything on Adobe's site just says notify me, and is suggesting it's not available until mid May

I'll be amazed if you get a copy within the next four weeks.

I'm currently using a friends CS5 Master Collection on his laptop, He works for Adobe.

Its the full CS5 master collection but oddly it doesn't have acrobat with it.
Photoshop has the development name of 'white rabbit" and bridge, 'Wonderland'. I have to say the content aware features are a major step forward. Some more nice features on the clone tools, the interface hasn't changed much, but i'm used to a Mac version and this is a PC version, its running on Windows 7 X64 bit and photoshop is running in full 64bit mode, its nice and quick. Havant done much with bridge as i don't use it.

Not much else you can say when you only have it for a brief look.

If I could buy CS5 now I would. I'd like to try a trial/beta too but can't find one on general release. Interestingly Adobe want 20 quid more for the download version than the boxed/shipped version!

Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade from the educational version of CS4 to CS5? I can't find anything on the Adobe website about upgrading educational versions?

Adobe have stated the trials will be available 1 day before they start shipping CS5 so that will be around about the 10th MAY

I know you cant upgrade an educational version to another educational version but you can do educational to full commercial license.

I'll be waiting for LR3 to be released. Currently Adobe are offering 30% off a LR2 purchase, or upgrade, if bought at the same time as a PS CS5 upgrade. I'm hoping the same offer will apply when LR3 is released - that'll save a few quid. However, that offer expires on June 7th. Anybody want to guess the release date of LR3?

I doubt that very much.

Better to get the Lr2 if they can offer a free upgrade to Lr3

Wow wow wow, what can I say PS CS5 has some incredible looking new features from the videos i've seen on the net the ability to stich photos in a live mode while keeping lines and things fixed is simply amazing and the ability to juggle part of an image and have them seemlessly fit! its gonna create a ton of lazy photographers but it will save alot of time too =] and it will be interesting to see famous landmarks mutilated and recomposed with the new features !

Yes indeed, the puppet warp feature was amazingly impressive, the ability to use a wire-frame mesh to literally manipulate a person's stance or movement or the lines on a football field to fix distortions is going to take post processing to a new level!

I had an email this morning to say mine had been shipped!

And as you can imagine, after 3 days waiting for it to arrive, I telephoned the supplier to find out the email had been sent in error and I will get CS5 in early May!

I have been lucky enough to spend a little time with pre-release "White rabbit" and must say how good it is. Even though this us a "Dev" version with attached debugging code, it is noticeably quicker than CS4. And the new tools are very nice. :-). Even crop tool now has a rule of thirds grid added at last :-) Looks like I need to sell the kids lol.

Don't sell the kids - get them the student version :)

I'll bet it'll be a while after launch before all my plugins work with CS5... think I'll wait a while.
