Hello.

I have Photoshop CS3 and a Panasonic G1. I have done a search but don't really understand anything that i have read.
How do i open the Raw files in CS3?
The files are RW2 format if that helps?

Thanks
Dann

Do a search on Adobe website for the latest version of DNG convertor . You use it convert your raw to adobe raw .That should solve your problems .

I don't think CS3 Raw supports your camera...here's the official list

Unfortunately Adobe only include the latest updates in their newest software - you may need to update to CS4/CS5 - check out the official Adobe info

You can just download a plugin.

Download Adobe Camera Raw Plug-In 4.1.1
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3896

Here are the directions I followed to install the Adobe Camera Raw Plug-In 4.1.1:

To install with Adobe Creative Suite 3 or Photoshop CS3:
1. Exit Photoshop CS3.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Double-click Local Disk (C: ).
4. Navigate to: c:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as in step 4.
7. Launch Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Bridge.

Its not working :(
Looks like i'm gonna have to either do it at uni or "buy" CS5

If you have the money to (or are able to ;)) upgrade then fine everything should work, but BigJohn's advice is the way to go if you want to stick with Adobe and use your CS3, just use the Adobe DNG convertor to make your files compatible with the ACR you have.

If you can get CS5 then Adobe Camera Raw is more advanced, especially with the Noise reduction for one thing.

Okay.
I have managed to convert them to .DNG but when i try to open them in CS3 it comes up with "Not the right Kind of document".
I have also updated the plug-in.

Looks like i'm screwed and have to shoot Jpeg

If you've downloaded version 5.7 of the DNG converter, files converted to this standard may not be readable with CS3

At the bottom of the start page is the preferences option. Click on this and select compatibility. I think you need to use version 4.1 for CS3. Try this on a few file and see if it works OK.

It may also be worthwhile checking what the last version of ACR is compatible with CS3 and make sure you have that installed.

Thats brilliant.
I have sorted it now. Have set it to version 4.6.

Thanks everyone :)
