hi, im having trouble opening pics in CS2, the pics are in CR2 format from my 40D which it says it cant recognize. ive tried loading on the new camera raw plugin but with no luck so far. im using mac os x by the way. :shrug:
 
Right first off for CS2 I think the latest camera raw plugin is 3.7 anything in the 4.0 or 5.0 range simply won't work in it (they are for CS3 and CS4 and are not interchangable) I can't remember off hand whether CS2 supports the 40d, if it doesn't you'll need the .DNG converter (free from adobe) then you convert your CR2 to DNG which CS2 will open as RAW.

ive tried all the updates up to 3.7, tried both manual update and in program update, which it said installing camera raw 3.7, but still no luck. so i have drawn the conclusion as you said that id doesn't support the 40D. ive got the dng converter, which seems pretty easy to batch convert, my only concern is am i loosing anything in the process??
 
CS2 does not support CR2 files from the 40D, CS3 will. It will be a lot cheaper to use the DNG converter, unless you were planning to upgrade to CS3 or higher.
 
Adobe claim that theres no loss using the DNG converter. As namllihs says CS2 isn't compatable with the 40d I wasn't sure when I posted but I have checked and sadly it came in with CS3.
