Yes
Hi, I usually use Photoshop CS2 for processing my Jpeg files, and Canon DPP for processing my Raw files from my Canon 600D camera. I have been given some money for my birthday and am thinking of may be buying Lightroom 6 for around £110. Would this be a good buy? Your thoughts please.

i would go with the subscription its a good deal for both

I prefer not to go with the subscription option.

When I said, "Would this be a good buy" I didn't mean money wise, more on the processing side.

Tony, I don't personally use LR as I never really got on with it. I do use Iridient Developer, however. Worth a look and a trial. I'm also not keen on subscriptions so I use it together with CS4.

You could try the 30-day free trial for Lightroom CC just to see if you like it.

I've been a Photoshop user for decades but, a few of weeks ago, downloaded the Lightroom trial. I'm finding it really great and now I do all my processing in Lightroom, and only had a couple of occasions I needed to open up Photoshop to clone/heal something that I couldn't do satisfactorily in Lightroom.

Lightroom is also excellent for organising your photo collections, so there's that. But you should try it yourself before you decide. :)

Canon DPP???

Get a CC for photographers subscription. I don't understand why you are willing to spend £110 on lightroom but not pay a few quid each month

I don't think it's difficult to understand. I believe the CC subscription is around £10 a month. Buy LR and the paying effectively stops after 11 months. Go with CC and it never stops. Plus many people simply don't like having streams of direct debits going out.

But you get Photoshop too. I used to buy upgrades ever year or two. Its far more cost effective to subscribe.

Gary, not unless you need the latest cutting edge improvements. TBH, I could probably use PS7 and be quite happy. I have CS4 and that does way more than I need. I've already paid for CS4, I use and have paid for Iridient Developer, which I find better than LR for my brain, so to pay £10 a month makes no sense to me. I just don't need the upgrades. I have probably £1000 worth of plugins instead which suit my personal needs far better.

I find basic editing in lightroom and includes hdr and panorama merge plus cataloging a good deal for nothing, unless you need more advanced stuff
No need to buy anything.
