hi, I am looking for a good practical course on Photoshop CS4/5 for photographers in London but I don't know where to go. I already have a dvd tutorial but would prefer to go to a course myself.

I have just started working as a portrait photographer but work by myself, so I can't get help from anyone. I am finding it difficult to make the most of CS4, and would like to attend a hands on course.

thank you

Have a look at experience-seminars.co.uk I know they do hold events etc in London

Be very wary about courses and training companies, most charge a lot and teach very little, you're really not going to learn that much on a two day course except that you've just lost £400.

My advice, learn it yourself. There are tons of resource out there that will let you methodically learn Photoshop, and most of it far more proffesional than some of the cowboys that run software training courses.

I recommend VTC training cd's, for £80 or so you'll get a lot of hours of tuition that you can go over again and again, and they have hundreds of courses geared to what you want to learn.
Have a browse and see what you think, they also have a free online trial membership that allows you to view a few chapters free.

thank you for all your suggestions. I did do an adult education short course a couple of years ago, but it was an hour a week spread over 10 weeks. I didn't find it very useful.

I'll try the dvds again, although I would prefer to have someone teaching me so it can answer any question I might get along the way.

I am trying to learn how to treat photos to give them different looks.

You can learn a lot from a good book, try Photoshop CS4 for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby. Excellent
