I have now set everything to srgb and have tried printing from elements8.
My screen is calibrated by a spider device, the printer colour control is set to off***, presumably using the data from elements and not changing it.
So, why oh why is it printing darker than the screen shows? Grr, it is driving me mad and google throws up so much I don't understand.
Please help me!!!

***Well I think it is off, can someone confirm how to turn it off on a Canon ip4600?

The reason why the print is darker is probably due to the brightness of your monitor. If you are using an LCD monitor then this is going to be Backlit and will show the images bright on the screen.

You have to make sure that you are using the profie creaded by the spyder for your monitor.

You mentioned that you had turned off the color control in the printer. Have you created a custom profile for your Printer/Paper/Ink combination.

Which printer/paper/ink are you using.

Ian, I am using High Gloss Premium paper, with a canon ip4600 and genuine inks.
I don't understand custom profiles and understood if I turn off all adjustments with the printer and let elements handle it, it would be fine.
Is this wrong?

Ian, thanks. I think I have it. I think I was looking for a very technical answer to a simple problem.
