Photoshop actions

I've never used them before and the videos i've been watching are ok but not great.
I have a .psd file and a batch of photos. I want The action to be that it picks a photo from a specific folder moves it over into the .psd file resizes it and exports both elements as a jPeg into a new location and continues with all the photos in the specific folder.

Can this be done are am i fooling myself?

Try Image Processor
Go to File, Scripts, Image processor have a lookie see at it and see if it is of use to you.
There's also Dr Brown's 1 - 2 -3 Process there too.
