Hi there,

I am looking for a place within London wheres theres tall trees, fallen logs, wild flowers, overgrown plants, etc and possibly a small pond/river near it.

Kew Gardens would of been nice but I will need to consider the entrance fee.

Richmond park maybe, near Kew a bit wilder feeling and no entrance fee
 
Richmond Park (not very overgrown) Bushy Park (Hampton Court) or Windsor Great Park...?
 
Thanks... all those parks really look nice - will go and check them out.

Still looking for an area like this(doesn't have to be a large area) - really like how some of the light passes through the canopy:

The downside there is that they are all Royal Parks, and no commercial photography is allowed without a permit:

The Royal Parks supports amateur and student photographers taking photographs for a private portfolio, educational coursework or other non-commercial use. It is necessary to apply for permission to use images of any of The Royal Parks for commercial purposes.

you had that issue at KEw anyway. Don't ask for permission as they will charge you. Just be discrete. I use Richmond park for engagement shoots, no ones every challenged me, besides if its for Uni there's no money changeing hands
 
UPDATE: went to richmond park today and I was disappointed as I didn't any locations worth photographying. Isabella plantation was all dried up - no flowers in sight. The only thing great about the place was getting up close to the deers and a good work out if your cycling(my legs and bum are hurting me).

I am having second thoughts on going to Bushy Park (Hampton Court) or Windsor Great Park - might be the same as Ricohmond.

Putney and Wimbledon commons provide loads of possibilities. Wimbledon has lakes and streams. There are plenty of cycle tracks and I have seen photographers and models on location mainly at the Wimbledon golf club end. Also a windmill to provide an interesting background.

What about hampstead heath??? I used to live near there and as a young girl would walk up the Golders Green Road, through Golders Green Park and then through a lovely wooded area up to hampstead. Mind you that is a few years ago now and things have probably drastically changed, but the area between Golders Green Park and Hampstead was lovely.
 
You may be at the wrong time of year for a little extra colour. If you can wait a few weeks perhaps the leaves turning may give you a little of what you are after.
 
Trent Park in North London is nice - free entry, lots of woodland to roam around, a couple small streams and a lake as well.
 
Doesn't have a pond that I am aware but went to an open day at nunhead cemetry which has lots of fallen trees, overgrown bits and gravestones which have fallen over. It is Victorian so the gravestones can be quite big and fascinating. Highhgate Cemetery is also meant to be very good but have not been there yet.

The official website does not show the overgrown bits but if you do a search on google images you get loads of hits

Highgate is quite limiting because they have soooooo many restrictions on photography now. IIRC you have to cough up some dosh to take a picture of Marx's tomb.

If you are down south try West Norwood instead. It's S.London's equivalent of Highgate, with just as many famous graves and very few restrictions.

Oxleas Woods near Shooters Hill in SE London.. lots of woods and tall trees! Not too sure on the ponds though.

You'd need to get a bus from Woolwich Arsenal station though, or drive.
 
Hampstead Heath without a doubt.

You've got the trees, the open grass areas, ponds and also the segregated male/female swimming areas!! All in zone 2!!!

Lived in the area for years, beautiful place.
 
Just outside London, but Black Park in Iver would fit your bill
 
Another vote for Hampstead Heath/Heath Extension/Golders Hill park. Loads of trees and undergrowth to play with and there are lakes in the Heath or a more covered large pond just off Golders Hill Park. Only downside is it can get quite busy but then what green space doesn't in London? :)
 
Epping Forest should fit the bill, plenty of ponds, but alas no river.
 
There are plenty of woods out my way. Jubilee woods which stretches Chislehurst, Petts Wood and Orpington has everything you are looking for, more streams than ponds.

Kelsey Park in Beckenham has a Lake, flower garden, a LOT of bird life and VERY tame squirrells.

There are woods off of Normans Park which have dense woodland and streams and a few members only fishing lakes.

there are plenty more to mention locally but I would say that for what you are looking for, it is easier found outside the big smoke.

Kelsey Park is wonderful, and has a very photogenic pair of Mandarins!
