If I post a photo I can only do it with the TP upload so it comes out as a thumbnail, as I'm not on Flickr. Is there any other way to make the photo a better size.

I used the "insert image" icon to upload this photo.

You get the choice of displaying the full image or a thumbnail.

It does have a maximum size though (which I'm not sure of)

I don't know if you have Lightroom, but I've set up a custom export function to set any image to maximum 1000px on the longest side, and a max filesize of 500kb. This prevents the "this file is too large" error.
 
Found it and the photo is much bigger, never would have found it, glad I asked. Thanks Terry.
