Hi, I've deleted a tonne of photos in LR (v3.3), but even when i select 'delete from disk' they are still on the drive. I looked at the adobe forum but a clear solution wasn't evident.
The folders were read only, is this the problem?!?

Thanks

Sorry have another part to this problem: when I move photos in LR from asubfolders to the parent folder it's not reflected in expolerer- is this normal??

Lightroom is non destructive so once imported it normally leaves the original photos intact. Or so is my understanding

Pretty much, you'll need to change permissions on the folders so that a program running at a user level can edit (delete) them.

thanks nano- will try with some more; the only thing is that when I delsect read-only on the primary parent folder and apply it to all subfolders the read-only box is stilled filled when i double check afterwards!?!

Even if the folders themselves have been made non-readonly, if your pictures in those folders were readonly they wont be made non-readonly when you reset the folder to non readonly. If that makes sense?

You'll probably have to do a search form the root folder of your picture collection, then select all, then right click and set readonly off in the properties dialog that comes up.

HTH

Perfect sense- thanks! So do photos by default become readonly?
I would have thought not to be honest. Depends what you use to get the pictures from your camera card to the PC disk. Perhaps its that which makes them read only as it copies them over?

Thanks, i use Lightroom- seems to be ok now...

I seem to have messed up the catalogue on another PC, and need to 'purge' LR- can I just delete the current catalogie and re-import from the newly-sorte drive? (all jpegs)
