Hi, We are going to Norfolk in June , Staying near Holt are there any places that i really shouldnt miss when out and about taking photos and where are the best places for photos . Thanks .:)

The coast at sunset or sun rise arounf sheringham or out on the sand at weybroune is lovely and the sand flats and beach at Wells is lovely, sun set and rise are best for great light.

Sunsets at Hunstanton, fish and chips at Wells, half-a-dozen steam/heritage railways, ruins ancient and modern scattered across the county..

What floats your boat photographically? not much to go on as to your interests..

Horsey Mere for sunsets and of course, the windmill. If birds (feathered!) are your interest, then Cley and Titchwell are very good for a variety of species.

Anywhere on the coast is going give you some good sunsets and sunrises, Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Overy Staithe are a couple of my favourites.

Holkham Hall is also worth a look.

Have a look at this to get a line on the sunset and rise http://photoephemeris.com/about

Definitely recommend fish and chips from Well-next-the-Sea, but can't remember the name of the shop. The Red Lion at Stiffkey has excellent beer and food.

Tringa reminded me. Holkham Hall has a huge area of parkland and a large number of Red Deer. Also at Stiffkey, there's a track that runs down towards the coast and its a great spot for Little Egrets.
Woodbastwick is a pretty village with a nice church complete with thatched roof. If I remember correctly, there used to be a brewery there too.
Fairhaven has a beautiful woodland garden.
Keep an eye out if you visit any of the Broads as Swallowtail butterflies are possible.

Thanks to everyone for your replies , it seems i am going to be spoilt for choice , Sun rise's and sets sound good as does all your other suggestions , including the food one . Wells is going to be high on my list in fact i now dont know where to go 1st .. I have copied down all places mentioned .
I hope i shall have some photos good enough to put on here , Thanks again to all . :)

Restricting to near to Holt:

  • Seal Trip from Morston quay (Beanies are good - but book) and choose a trip that lands on Blakeney Point near the lifeboat house
  • Walking along Blakeney Point (car park at the East side of Cley on the beach)
  • Sheringham to Holt steam railway
  • Walk along the sea defence from Blakeney to Cley next the sea
  • Binham Priory
  • Walk from Blakeney to Stiffkey
  • Lunch in the quixotic Cookies restaurant in Salthouse
  • walking the Peddars Way from Weybourne to Sheringham
  • walking in Sheringham Park from Weybourne

As you can guess we take 1-2 holidays a year on the Norfolk coat in addition to Summer hols. The photo opportunities just leap out.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/chris_j_l/tags/norfolk/ shows my photos all done in the stretch between Old Hunstanton and Cromer.

Other suggest Old Hunstanton, Wells and Holkham - been to them all but only for a few hours so they can recommend what to do there better than I can possibly do.

Thanks Chris , Yes i had noticed the steam railway ,think i am going to be busy so much to see .
Looked at your photos really liked them .:)

Oulton Broad (nr. Lowestoft, just over the border into Suffolk)?

If you hit the right day you get to see the powerboat racing. It's been 10 years since I lived in Oulton Broad, but there was some great racing to be had (if you're into that kind of thing).

Brancaster Staithe, Burnham Overy Staithe and nice spots. Holkham park and beach are worth a look if you are in the area.

The steam train runs from Sheringham to holt.

Parts of Cromer are nice along the sea front they have a pier too.

Happisburgh has a red and white stripy lighthouse.

If you are coming a bit more inland Salhouse broad is very pretty its a short walk from the village car park down to broad. The pub at Woodbastwick is nice

Norwich city is also very nice, old streets, castle, river, cathedral, etc.
