I upgraded my 5.7 of LR to 6. I am now experiencing all my photos that I'm converting to HDR to go to the end of my photos instead of next to the photos that I've chosen to merge into HDR. Is there anyway I can make the finished photos end up next to the other photos?

Well I'm in LR 5. My conversions sometimes stay in their original place and sometimes go to the end. Seems random.
I just live with it.

Towards the bottom of the screen you can specify the sort order - added, edit, capture etc. Check out the options there.

Edit:

Thanks Furtim....found the option.

Now the other thing is that when I've merged them together, there's already some editing done on the final image and I don't know how to stop it from it doing it?

Several options here:
  • Do you have any presets applied on import? Check the panel to the right on import and see if you have anything set under 'apply during import'
  • In the develop module, are you using copy and paste (left hand side, bottom) at all to copy edits between pictures
  • In the library module, are you using 'sync settings' (bottom right) at all? This will sync some edits across all selected pictures.
  • Have you set lightroom to write changes to .XMP files? If you have and you edit a file in an external editor and then bring it back into lightroom, it will apply the changes to that file too if the base filename is the same. For example, if I have GREATPIC.RAW and edit this in Lightroom with the setting turned on it will create a GREATPIC.XMP file. If I then edit the same file externally, but save with the name GREATPIC.DNG for example, Lightroom will think the same GREATPIC.XMP file applies to the file and will apply on import. If however you saved the edit as NEWGREATPIC.DNG, it would not etc.

Just noticed there's an 'auto tone' option on the HDR window. Oops.

Now back to the sorting of the photos, it seems that I have to keep going back to the Library and click on 'Capture Time' most of the time. So stupid.

That's what I found, so as mentioned, I live with it.
Once I export them as JPEG files the order always seems to correct itself.
