Quite amusing. Going through photo album of me and husband when we were kids so that I can scan some and print them up for our party and just giggling. I can tell which ones my Nan took as the top of someone's head is chopped off or a finger across the lens or too far over to the side and arm cut off :lol: Used to be a standing joke with the family

A few of husband's ones are a bit dark but hoping that once I've scanned them in, I can play with them.

The trouble is, a lot of them are in old albums, do you remember the ones with sticky pages and the film over the top, will this damage them, is it best for us to start taking them out and putting them in newer albums?:help:

personaly i would have thought it would be best NOT to try and pull the sticky stuff off the image as you WILL lift some if not ALL of the image!! would you be able to carfully use a sharp blade (Like a scalple or stanley) and cut it out leaving the sticky stuff as an extra coating on the photo and try scanning that..

You could always fins a pic thats not very good and wouldnt miss if t were damaged and TRY to peel!!
Best of luck though..

I hated the the style of the 70's ... and would rather forget a large part of the 80's. :D
However, now Im older, I do find it funny to look back at some of the crazy things we wore back then!

Check this thread here for a giggle. ;)

I dont know about the photo album question myself, though I have heard stories that the chemicals used in the sticky backing on the pages erode photos over time.
Ive got lots of photos in albums like that, many of which have developed a nasty red caste but Im not sure why.
Perhaps it was due to the chemicals used in the processing.

hehe Glo - I have many to contribute - I'll dig some out and we can all have a laugh. I think I kept Max Factor in business in the 80s  and having just looked at your pics I wasn't quite as skilled in applying it as you were

The things which destroy prints over time are ultra violet light which causes fading, and airborne contaminants which attack the print surface. The best way to keep them is in a frame under glass with the back sealed to prevent the ingress of dust and contaminants. Hang it on a wall where it doesn't get any direct sunlight and it should outlast you.

In an album is fine too, but as Glo said, beware of some of the adhesives which can cause problems.

Cheers for your replies to the album question - none of the glue is sticky anymore so don't have to worry about damaging the back of them

Will have a look at the other thread - cheers - may contribute
