Photos from Pearl Harbour discovered

What unbelivable photos, better than any history book but so sad in some ways, the sailor siting on the ground must have been in dibelife

There are comments on the page that those images are fake, but I don't know if that is the case. Either way they are still haunting.

i just hope people never forget events like this

Never noticed that comment and cannot say one way or t'other. However, I have looked at many pics of the attack on PH and the only one I recognise is the last one. Quite a common shot and very possibly it was photographed several times since the ships in the dock probably lay in that state for a while.

Cracking photos, but I remember when they 'surfaced' a while ago.

There was a big website explaining how they weren't 'just discovered'...Right down to links pointing out the text from the underside of the page they were scanned from.

Or something like that, IIRC etc.

It's good to know the actual photographs are real.

I believe the pics are real. Box Brownie - 12 pics max from one roll of film.
13 shots on the website. It's the story of how they were obtained that is supect.

It's fake - we did all this a year ago on the last anniversary of PH...some people here have bloody awful memories, I must say.

Look at those little 'watches' in the corners, and other stuff.. including the Naval Department official stamps (which i can no longer see here but were all intact when we looked at these last year...lol)...

Nice idea...nice enough photos...but fake story.

I'd probably remember this from last year if I spent every waking moment on TP. Fortunately I don't ;)

At different focal lengths? ;)
Look at that last pic - it's a very wide angle shot, but some of the earlier ones look like short telephotos.
I've got a Box Brownie and it can't do that!

Indeed - what I was getting at is that the pics are real, but because there are 13 of them it makes the Box Brownie bit of the story wrong. There would have to have been more than one roll of film, but only one was mentioned.

this has been around the internet way too long. It's a hoax..sorry.

"These photographs are genuine and do show the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. However, they were not found stored in a Kodak Box brownie camera nor were they taken by a sailor on the USS QUAPAW. In fact, the images are US Naval archive photographs taken by different people at various locations around Pearl Harbour at the time of the attack. The photographs form part of the historical image collection available on the Naval Historical Center website."

i thought this...the guy must have flown all over the place to get all the spots these were taken in one day..and in a certain space of time
