Hi guys just wanted to ask for some advice, Work have asked me to do some photos for the new web site. Ive said yes but not sure on where to start they want photos for the building etc.

Could anyone give me advice on what to go for and which way i should start.

Thanks
Gareth

Do they want pretty pictures to hang on the wall or stuff like staff portraits etc?

Abit of both I think something showing different parts of the building inside and out

Not related to the shots, but you can claim back part of the value of your kit against tax if you use it for work and you own it.

It would be nice to but the school where I work already have cameras but crap little ones at that. As its a one off I don't think that would fly

Your best bet is to sit down with the person/persons who asked you to do the job and get a more detailed brief, it's the only chance you have of making sure they'll be happy with the final images

I agree with Simon, treat them as a client, ask what kind of style and edge they want, whether it's just a candid of the building or if they want architectural shots, internally and externally. I would imagine if it's for the website then it will be about the angles of the building etc

I am in an identical situation, also working in a school and after some shots of interior and exterior of the building. Exterior I think I am probably ok with, but its the interior i am not to sure about... Obviously, being a school the interior needs to look large and quite spacious, i.e a "good learning environment", well lit etc etc. Not sure how to achieve this sort of look though. Any advice would be appreciated.

Make sure you have a tripod for the indoor shots, as if it's a little dark in there you'll need to use a slow shutter speed to avoid cranking up the ISO.

Will produce much cleaner images that way
