Hi guys!

Well with the recent hype over the cakes etc its about time i actually set up my website properly! at the moment its just a landing page.

Im hoping to have a picture on the 'about page' which isnt the usual woman stood there with a cheesy grin and a cake.

I was THINKING something along the lines of this....but staring at a cupcake:

and this:

but what would be really cool and its something right up my street would be this:

I have no idea how to create that effect/where youd get a tiny house from LOL

now here comes my problem....im not exactly great at photography, im not much of a photographic subject either LOL and i have no idea how to do self portraits with leads etc (i dont even have one of those shutter button things!)

it would take me 6x longer to get a picture on my own than if someone else did it. :'(

I suppose im asking if anyone wanted to do this for me? either just because you need a 'project' to do, or just for extra practice?
If not ill have to try and have a crack at it myself LOL im from the North West x

I have 2 studio lights with softboxes, a reflector (the usual gels, snoot etc) and a large 3ft lighting tent if any of that would be of use?

sorry for having to post links but i get told off for posting the images when they arent mine :)

thanks to those who dont read and run :)

Shame you're in the North West as I'd love to have a go at doing that sort of thing!

Good luck with it :o)

Is this for a business you're setting up and are going to be making money from? If so it seems to me that the right thing to do would be either:
1-Do it yourself
2-Pay someone to do it for you
3-Pay istockphoto for the rights to use the photos you want.

im trying to set a business up, at the moment im only earning £3 an hour so need to grow a pair and charge the right amount, hopefully a good looking website will help me! LOL

as for istock...i dont want their pictures...i want a picture with me in it so i can include it on the 'about us' page so its more personal :)

the do it yourself...i may have to...just not sure how im going to do that ha ha

and the pay someone else...the pictures are not essential for the page, i was just hoping if it was of some interest to someone they may want to have a go, or if they havent worked on a project lately it might be something they want to do.
Im not asking a top photographer to do loads of pictures for free so i benefit from them. LOL thats just cheek ;)
its like me offering my brothers girlfriend to have a go at maternity photos...im not charging, it would just be a nice practice!

its more of an all round benefit thing if they wanted to have a crack at it. they would be mentioned that they took the photo on my website too.

Just thought it could be a nice project for someone?

Hey I have some studio kit as well, maybe it could be a project. Let me know if you can figure out how a couple of photographic duffers can do something like the second one maybe, or on a similar lines to the third.
Not sure how it would work, but I'll put my thinking cap on.

Oh and I've seen some of your pictures on facebook and they are far better than that picture your using as your profile.

Don't suppose you know someone with an old cottage with a farmhouse kitchen you could borrow.

thanks Chris!
photographic duffers?:shrug: LOL noob alert :)

Which pictures and which profile picture? LOL

hmmm nope, i dont know anyone with an old farmhouse.....maybe B & Q have a set up kitchen? LOL

stu!!
PMSL...that miniature house is cool isnt it! and very 'alice in wonderland' which is what i love about it! i love the madhatter tea party sort of scene too

oh but of course!! what would a photoshoot be without cakes! once you have finished photographing them...u get to eat them :) LOL

hi tracey.. glad to see you're taking the cakes to the people at last!

like stu says, if you just get some shots of you on white background and floor, that will give you your starting images.

Then you just need another shot of either an empty room or what about getting a pic of a nice big old wooden kitchen table and then the pic of you blended into it to make it look like you're sat on the table (obviously making you look tidgy). Once you've got your main shot you could try allsorts of different backgrounds to it and see which works best

i'm sure someone will process them for you if you have the basic images to start with. it'd be about half an hours work, so prob looking around £400 or so :lol::lol:

thanks very much :)

i have a few people interested now, but all from different areas and different set-ups to offer!

dont want to just choose one and then the others lose out, but not sure if everyone would be happy to work together when theres only one subject to photograph?

thought on this please!! LOL

Just a thought but what about something like Let Them Eat Cake as a business name, quite a few variations on this seem to be available for websites?

Hi Liam, thanks for that! I already have one though...its called 'Little Cherry Cake Company'
I entered a competition run by tate n lyle called 'let them eat cake' and I won! :) LOL

Yeah i was thinking that too...it might be hard to recreate the look of my head touching the roof though?

No problem there, I'll eat the cake if someone else doesn't mind sorting the camera weilding bit.

if your small enough - what about a v large dolls house?

or if you wanted an alice in wonderland thing - maybe an outdoors with miniture table/cups in a nice forest setting with maybe toy mad hatter etc?

I'm just down the road from you though not as experienced as some of the guys offering here! i do make a great cake tester though - unchallenged in this field ;)

Tracey, just look at slatteries and have your cake and eat ok maybe ignore the shots on the wooden table for have your cake but you want to display the products it and see how they shoot them, something creative like the above as a banner etc but they don't really work for the idea of your presenting what you do so keep things simple a constant background that is unfussy just don't use a blue background they look cold. I keep trying different things for my sisters cakes.
