My local Costco store has recently started to offer some larger photo enlargements than they used to at some great prices. I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to check out the quality and finally get a few of my pictures up on the wall around the house without spending a fortune :D Trouble is I have been to Ikea,The Range and dunelm Mill to look for a corresponding frame, but nothing!! The Costco prints are what I take to be traditional photo sizes e.g 12x24" or 24x36",but the photo frames are all in cms,and nothing seems to match up!
Is it Costco with odd photo sizes,or the photo frames or me looking at this all wrong? :bang:

I bought a larger frame and took it to a local framing company. They cut out a mounting board for me and I mounted it myself.

Cost about £3

Costco is an american firm,I guess maybe thats why they are in inches, but I thought inches where standard in photograph printing i.e 6x4".
I guess I could get some made, but I looked in the places mentioned because the frames are all pretty cheap!! I didn't really want to spend a fortune at the moment as,car tax,car insurance and holiday have left my piggy bank looking rather skinny

simple solution is to get slightly larger frame then mount it yourself!

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I haven't done anything with large size photo printing/framing,but when you say "mount it" is that with a cardboard frame inside the frame?

Yes, Get yourself a mount that compliments your image. It'll look much better that just a frame.

Just a quick update and another question!!
Ikea have got some huge frames 39x27" for £20 :thumbs:and they come with a pre cut mount with an aperture size of 27x19". Is there anyway I can add a border to my photo so when its printed out on 36x24" photo paper the photo will be in the middle of the paper and match the aperture size of the mount? I dont want to print full size and then have the mount overlapping my photo by a few inches as I might be covering over somebodies head :naughty:
