Hi there, wasn't too sure what section to put this in. After doing out door events this year, there's a few coming up at the NEC and another at Stoneleigh - both from my previous experience notorious for poor lighting.
I've heard a few people mention shooting in RAW is easier in such conditions, so as to make editing later on easier - any other advice for shooting particularly at the NEC?

Any help appreciated,

Cheers,

Dan

Last time I was at the NEC the lighting wasn't bad at all - quite bright enough for photography. Shooting in raw might make it easier to get the white-balance sorted out later, as there are mixed fluorescent lights.

I'm covering a show at stoneleigh this weekend so will let you know exact ISOs etc.... I shoot there every year and it is terrible - they have those awful downlights that create a hotspot then massive falloff...

Pretty sure its something heinous like ISO 3200, f/4 and 1/60th...

These were taken at Stoneleigh in the very dim sheds - awful light (and awful photos too :D) - that and the barriers/people around the cars made it difficult for me to get anything. I used flash on some shots - but my flash work needs a lot more practice and so I went for no flash, 800 ISO with aperture wide (around f4) and hand-held shutter speeds of about 1/60. I dare say other toggers would have coped where I struggled.

This is from an angling show this weekend:

ISO 4000 used and the exposure is 1/125th at f/4.5, no flash.

(apologies for the horrendous quality - my gallery space on TP is down to the bare bones )
