Just had something called Photos Add On pop up on my PC which I'm assuming is from a recent update. After clicking on a few tabs and reading the reviews, not many users seems to like it at all. Most annoyed that it just sort of "appears".

As a photographer I much prefer to use programmes that I know and use daily. Does anyone have any views on Photos Add On, is it even possible to remove it from Windows 10?

From MSFT.

"According to Neowin (via ZDNet)
,
some Windows 10 users are seeing a new Photos Add-on app on their PCs. The app was reportedly bundled into the OS for some Windows 10 users through the latest Patch Tuesday update.
Listed under Apps & Features and showing up as “Photos.DLC Main,” the app itself is just a 141MB add-on to the main Microsoft Photos app. Although a bit small, this can still be troubling for those users who are concerned about automatic app downloads and saving space on their PC. Interestingly, some users even report that the app was delivered in an update in the WIndows Store as early as October 1, 2017.
Testing done by ZDNet has shown that the app works with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and that it is a part of a feature which was originally released 18 months ago, to manage app add-ons and DLC in settings. So obviously, the app does not do much, other than to help the user control content like the new Story Remix features.

While not a big deal, an official explanation about the appearance of this app from Microsoft would have been appreciated by users in this case."

Not seen it myself, yet!

On W10 Pro

No addons listed in Photos App for me either!

Not at all connected to Photoshop, see Wontollas post above. "Photos Add On" is part of the Windows 10 recent updates and is a Microsoft product.

I never said it was anything in regard to PS, that is why for clarity I stated my W10 Pro OS ;)

In the industry article he quotes it says ".....add-on to the main Microsoft Photos app" and it was that expression I used because in W10 'Apps & Features' section :)

What version of W10 are you running?
