Photokina

it all comes down to money - Canon are obviously bidding lower than Nikon.
It's how all the milatry work I belive - and there is a good quote on Call Of Duty4 which goes something like remember - you are driving around in the lowest valued vechile (meaning the tanks are not built to protect but to save money)

I don;t want to cause a War arguement but money is always involved.

It's not as bad as it sounds - we all (RN, Army and RAF) get our kit through Calumet UK, so they're the ones tasked with maintaining all the spares and servicing contracts.

Phil Goldsmith at Calumet even arranged an ad-hoc service contract through Calumet-Deutschland for those of us based in Germany. Nikon UK have approved this (we did the deal while drinking a beer on Tuesday evening, paid for by Canon UK) so we've effectively reduced our 'down-time' for broken kit by half.

Rob,

I am not sure if there's anything in this; but did you by any chance see anything from Nikon that was flashed about with a "Q" letter? Apparently, this was shown as a teaser ?

Nope - we saw some military-specific equipment that you guys will never get to see, but other than that it was all a bit hum-drum apart from hearing all the stories about build-quality not being quite as good as it used to be confirmed by our Calumet sources...

Wonder if the Siggy 300/2.8 will come in a White option

Don't be so ridiculous...why would anyone want to do that?

Sigma quite rightly recognise the benchmark of optical excellence is set by Nikkor lenses and even style thier products to match Nikon...

Black and Gold is the new black...
