If i had to photograph models with long legs for a panty hose ad. They want the look to be arty and the length of the legs exaggerated. The girls are to be photographed standing and walking for an advertising agency and only had a small format SLR digital camera with a full size 35mm sensor and have the following lenses: 20mm, 28mm shift, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm macro, 135mm, 300mm, which one would be the best to use and why would that be the best?

Gen:bang:

20mm shot from a low angle should reinforce the length of the girls legs :)

Well wide angle lenses are the ones which exaggerate perspective, so one of the wide angle ones I'd think - telephoto lenses have the opposite effect. Just which wide angle to use, depends on how close you'll be working to the models, and assuming they'll be standing or on a catwalk, then a lower viewpoint is best to emphasis the length of the legs.

You'll need to be a bit careful, as there'll be a trade off between getting the effect you want, and too much distortion if you overdo it, so some test shots between now and the big day would seem to be the way to go.

LOL. I'm just not a morning person. :D

Yeah be careful you don't end up with long legs and big feet

The 28mm shift could correct or accentuate the converging verticals, as you no doubt know.

If you don't want to be too up close and personal, use 100+mm.

I agree with keeping low but be careful to retain the model's dignity if you know what I mean :naughty:

sorry , but am i missing something ?

Wide n' low will do the job nicely. Don't be afraid to tilt the camera (assuming it fits with the brief) to use the diagonal space of the frame too.

Cheers,
James
