Hi,
A friend and I are thinking of going away for a weekend to somewhere where we would be able to take some nice photos. Planning to go sometime within the next three weeks. Has anybody got any recommendations? Atm we are considering the Lake District as it's the only place we know about for some nice scenery lol.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Dorset and Hampshire, on the boarders would be idle, you have the New Forest and then the coast of Dorset eg Kimmeridge and Portland

Snowdonia north Wales

Lake District in January or February is nice- get there out of season and it's great without the tourist hoards. Might even be some snow on the fells?

thanks for the recommendations, any more?

Also recommendations for accommodation too would be helpful if any one has been to these places and found a nice place to stay.

Plenty to do in Cornwall, do a search for Cornwall and you will see suggestions when i went. Loads of B&B's too. As said before, out of season = tourist free pictures. :)

Where are you located?

Fife coast area in Scotland, tourist free living harbours and the area is car friendly so you won't get stiffed for parking charges as you do as soon as you cross the border back to England!.
And you could also buy a bit of kit off Kerso and pick it up on the way through saving postage:)

Northumberland
Yorkshire Dales
Wye Valley
Lake District
New Forest
Scottish Highlands
Exmoor
Slough

West coast of scotland is always a winner, even Isle of Skye if u want to go that far.One added bonus with Skye is that the bridge is free now

I'm based in London and we are willing to drive or take train to the destination. Would love to try out Scotland, I will see which destination will be best for cost/landscape/convenience etc.

OK, when I saw Slough I was thinking of the one just west of London, didn't realize there was one in Scotland as well. :bonk:

Personally I'm a massive fan of mountains & coastal scenery - I'd list my favourite spots as....

1. West Scotland
2. Equally as good - Snowdonia, North Wales & Lake District
3. Brecon Beacons, South Wales
4. Cornwall (coastal)
5. Pembrokeshire, South Wales (coastal)
6. Isle of Anglesey, North Wales (Coastal)
7. Northumberland (Coastal)
8. Yorkshire Dales
9. Peak District, Derbyshire

Just a few suggestions

Not much point is adding to that list !! Spot on!

Cant beat the southdowns and Brighton seafront for variety and interest. Good pubs too.

Think I will have to make my way down this list lol.

For my first location I have chosen Coniston for the Lake District. Hopefully go there in two weeks time.

Worth the effort to walk up the "Old Man" - don't miss Tarn Hows & Hawkshead whilst you're down that way too, have fun !!
