Hey

I have read quite a few threads on this forum, and others, regarding what kind of setup I will need for a photo studio.

Im thinking.....

At least three lights, one with a radio trigger system
A HUGE backdrop of white (or another colour)

At present I have a 18-70mm kit lens and a 55-200mm Tamron.

I am planning on getting a decent flash gun for the camera (with diffuser) and a Minolta 50mm Prime Lens

All I need now is a decent location :)

My question is, have I forgotten anything?

Cheers

Not sure mate but the lighting section might be better equipped to answer this. I am sure they will have answered this before.

The answer is, it depends on what you want to shoot and on your style.

For example, if you're only interested in doing low key artistic nudes then a white backdrop and 3 lights would be a waste of money, 1 light would be fine.

If you want to shoot on a blitzed-out white background (and have enough space to do it well) then 4 lights would be better than 3.

Although not everyone will agree with me, personally I would add a flash meter to your list.

This is pretty much my set-up and has been for years, and it's a bargain price, and I happen to know it's all in tip-top condition as I've borrowed bits of it too on occasion - but never needed to use any of it as mine runs like a dream, many man MANY thousands of shots have been through this kit (well mine I mean) http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=167690

what sort of flashes you getting? if its only slave work then you could have 1 or 2 sony flashes (such as hvl f42am) and then buy 2 or 3 jessops 360afds flashes, they are brilliant little flashes for some studio slave work.

i agree on the 50mm i love mine, what version you getting?

Flash meter. Very hard to balance up multiple lights without.

Reflector, especially for portraits. And a stand/support to hold it.
