Less than 2 weeks now until the show

The Analogue Spotlight Stand is going to have a range of talks/demonstrations throughout the 4 days, as well as 8 of us having our own “pod” on there. Along with myself (Chroma), there’s also going to be Kosmo Foto, Analogue Wonderland, Intrepid, Silverpan Lab, Pixl-Latr, Bellini and Zone Imaging Lab.

I’m going to be taking along a supply of my ChromaGraphica wet plate holders (in 4x5, 5x7 and 8x10), as well as a Carbon Adventurer, SnapShot Classic and 679 with various film backs, for everyone to have a play with. As well as my current Kiev88, Mamiya RB, Mamiya Press and Hasselblad backs, I’m also planning to bring along three new backs too; Instax Mini, 6x12 and XPan format

Finally, I’m going to be launching my new 50:50 offer, allowing you to pay a 50% deposit for your order, with the remaining balance being paid when the camera(s) are ready to ship.

I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone, along with “Chroma Dave” who will be on the Pod with me for the show. See you there

Think I will take the Covid Pass Letter.
Always prefer the paper form if I have it, do it with things like gig and rail tickets too.
I have just applied; good idea. It says it takes 5 working days. Hopefully, that's correct. Thanks for the idea.

Forgive the innocent yet naive question. I’ve never been to this (or any other photog. show). Do they usually have decent deals? I’m considering another Z6ii and was curious if the more experienced among you would reckon it’s worth going just for that reason?

Cheers.
My take on this is that good deals are rare, for the following reasons
1. The costs of attending for the standholders are horrific, it's very difficult for them to break even, even if they sell a vast amount of gear at full prices. There are of course other benefits for them - PR, the opportunity to actually meet their customers and hear their views, but giving discounts increases their losses.
2. The last show, cancelled because of Coronavirus, has added to those losses because they had to pay up front for everything and the organisers refused to refund their money.
3. There are currently serious supply chain issues too (Covid, Brexit and massively increased transportation costs), so if Companies give big discounts they will run out of stock that's hard to get as well as losing even more money, and will then have further losses because of the problems of getting more stock.

What this means is that the "good deals" tend to be on old stock that they can't shift.

For me it's about seeing things and meeting people, not really about deals. There are some good talks and demos and you get your hands on and see all the latest innovations.

Has anyone had an auto-renewal of tickets that were ordered for the March 2020 show? I've received an email from the ticket factory "confirming" my order for tickets for this year's show. This was not an order that I placed and not a renewal that I'd placed.

Looks legit, but a bit of a surprise.

Looks like I will be going :D

As Sirch has said, he and I will be there on the Sunday. What he doesn't know, is that I have obtained two "talkphotography.co.uk" lanyards for our tickets, so you will be able to identify us if you spot the white-on-blue lanyards. Hopefully we will meet a few members during the visit.

I was wondering if we should have a set time and place where people can find us, there is usually a display of photos at one side of the hall, we could be there at say 11:30 and 14:30 or something

Good idea. It's very many years since I went, but looking at the layout in the little booklet that came with the ticket, no particular area stands out - maybe in front of the Masterclass Theatre next to the Food Village in Hall 2?

I got that and was certain I hadn't had a previous purchase so followed the link and realised I didn't have the info they needed.

Not for me - I'm a SONY shooter and it looks like they wont be attending :(

FFS. I already cleaned up the vaccine [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] in this thread once. This is a thread about the Photography show, we have their position on it, go or don't go is up to you but NO MORE DISCUSSION of vaccinations in here.

Update on COVID measures for the show, just received from them:

We're really looking forward to seeing everyone this week and we know that things are a bit different this year. We're working closely with The NEC not only to ensure that our visitors have a great day (or days!) out, but also to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable at our event.

We'll have a number of measures in place behind the scenes but we'd like to highlight what you should expect:

Covid status checks

The NEC staff will be checking everyone's Covid status when they arrive at the venue.

All attendees must be prepared to show proof of EITHER double vaccination (last dose at least 14 days before attending) OR a negative Lateral Flow Test or PCR result before entering the venue. Vaccination passes can be created via the NHS App but if you don't have access to this, vaccination cards will also be accepted with ID.
For help using their NHS app to get a Covid Pass, this video is really useful. Note also that certificates from outside England, including Scotland NHS, Wales, Northern Ireland, EU countries - and worldwide will be accepted.

Check-in at the NEC

QR codes will be displayed at venue entrances to allow visitors and exhibitors to record their attendance with NHS Track & Trace.

Face coverings

We would like to encourage the use of face coverings in busy areas, such as theatres.

Hand sanitiser and hand washing

We'll have hand sanitising stations located around the halls. Please remember to wash your hands frequently.

Exhibitors

Exhibitors may have their stands set up to allow for social distancing and cleaning. You can still expect to test and try new kit, same as you would usually!

Please consider others

Please be considerate towards others around you and remember that we all have differing opinions about Covid, face coverings and social distancing.

Righto. My ticket is booked for Sunday for a 10am arrival. Let's hope there's no crisis :)

I still have a TP Patch which is on my bag so if anyone recognises it, feel free to tap me on the shoulder. Chris - I think you probably have my number from the Astle Park organising PM that was sent, otherwise am happy to meet at a certain time/place.

Well, it looks like I may have to go too now! A few months back I requested a refund on the March 20 tickets but today I’ve received tickets through for Saturday at 0900. I can’t make Saturday so will need to change it to Sunday if I do go. I was planning to miss it this year as September isn’t easy for me.

If you’re into street photography and visiting The Photography Show, I’m doing 4 talks this year:

Saturday 3.30pm - ‘10 killer tips for street photography’ (Shutter Street Stage)
Monday 1.30pm - ‘Build your street photography confidence’ (Shutter Street Stage)
Monday 3pm - ‘How to set up your Fujifilm camera for street photography’ (Fujifilm stage)
Tuesday 4.10pm - ‘How to set up your Fujifilm camera for street photography’ (Fujifilm stage)

And I’ll be on Stand J601 (next to the Fujifilm stand) every day for all things street photography. Please drop by to ask questions, get advice, have a natter or just say ‘hi’. Hope to see you there!

Hi,
MS Hobbies will be there, are they not in the POD analogue area as well?
I belive they will have the 35mm Minotor lens form the 35mm Minox cameras for sale in a custom Sony F-E mount which looks pretty cool.

I used to go to Focus on Imaging as it was back then. Now having moved an 8 hr round trip, the NEC is too far away

Hi, I don't think they've got a pod, but I know there were some changes a few weeks ago so can't be sure. I'll try and check out their lens though.

Any discount codes for tickets?
If you have a website and photography insurance then you can apply for a free 'pro pass'.
I did and I've got free entry across all days.

All you need to supply is the details of your website and upload your certificate showing you have insurance.

Edit: I'm not a pro, it's not my main job but I do have insurance.

Damn. The bit I read said you had to make "the majority of your income" from photography....

Ah well. Live & learn...

They don't (and can't I presume) ask for any financial information.
Also, even if it's not your main job, they don't know what you make from your main source of income. :)

I attended a few years ago.
Really enjoyed it.
Think I'll give this year a miss though.

I don't have proof that I've had both jabs
Apparently you can take your NHS card you received with the x2 jab info stamped on. Seems ridiculous in my opinion as it doesn't state the individuals name

You can download the NHS app, it asks a few questions and then it gives you proof that you've had both jabs.
I used this for Silverstone.

My vaccination card has my name written in the top just above the vaccine type. I don’t know if there were different cards at different times or places in the UK.

If you take the vaccine card they are also asking for photo ID to check it’s definitely your card and not someone else’s.

I have this ticket discount code. SPKTPS21

And their conditions: This code will take 20% off advanced standard single day tickets only. This cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, including concession prices and multi-day tickets. Applies to adult rate only. The code expires at midnight on Wednesday 15th September 2021.

It's just a PITA that parking is expensive
Agreed. I'm between the £12 advance fee, getting two trains for £5.75 off peak, or driving close and getting the X1 bus in. I hate paying so much for parking that much I might even get a bus for the last stretch.

Might just do the parking and write it off :D

<<Mod Edit>>
Deleted for being yet again someone giving us the benefit of their expert opinion on how to run a trade show during a pandemic

I'm discussed in your response and I don't think its appropriate to be spoken to like that.
If others hadn't have posted relating to this information, I may have had issues visiting the show.

Therefore, Chris. You, YOU! are obviously incapable in determining what is and what isn't useful information.

ahem...

now, I appreciate it says moderator there, but seriously, you've been around long enough (longer than I have - and I worked it out maybe a decade ago!) to know that the site Admins actually own this place. You've been told multiple times. Take Heed, and STFU with the whinging.

Then please let's discuss this via the report I submitted.

Thanks

Marston green is not many miles away. About 20min walk. Done that many times but likely not this year. Tuesday would be my only chance but not sure it is worth the hassle unless you report some pretty healthy discounts of items I need, like a new 410 head
