Can any US members or visitors to Florida recommend a few photography shops in Orlando and the surrounding areas please? I'm off over there on boxing day, and am looking to pick up a few bargains over there...

Thanks

Hum - I'd stay clear of the 192 camera shops as they appeared to be tourist traps and not cheap at all. Plus the stock was strangely sunbleached, like it was seconds or bene in a shop window for ages.

Yeah I knew the 192 would be the place to avoid!

Malla - seriously? Not even in the malls? Where's the nearest place outside of Orlando, any ideas?

You won't find any in Orlando.:nono:

Not strictly true as I went looking when we were over in October. There's a camerashop in Downtown Orlando, but it didn't smack me as cheap.

The camerashop on the 192 south of the I4 by the old town area was the one with the faded boxes.

There's a further one on universal drive but again it seemed expensive (I'd checked with B&H/Amazon prices before I went). Lots of point and shoot compacts though.

As for the malls - I didn't see one at Millenium Mall, although that had a good food area. Watch out for sherrif's with speed guns there :)

If you go to Busch gardens (tampa), I spotted Lakeshore camera exchange right by the university (close to busch gardens) but didn't have time to check them out.

I found their website here.

Hope this helps

Oh and if you are out and about - check out Fantasy of Flight on the I4 towards Tampa. A great place if you like planes.

I know there's one in Winter Park that had relatively good prices a few years ago. I shot my cousin's wedding there and had to pick up some extra rolls of film. Winter Park is on the outskirts of Orlando.
