Photography related tattoos

I find the issue with tattoo is much like photography in that people who have tattoo suddenly start using bombastic rhetoric such as

'ive had some work done'

ive had some ink done'

and all that crap. its the same issue as the usual time line of a new photographer who says things like

'been asked to cover'

'i covered'

'i shoot these frames' (without telling us from the stand 37 rows back).

Oddly I have tattooed arms, but never call it ink or work, its just what it is, some done when depressed, others done when ecstatic. But a time line for my miserable existence so far.

My tattoo is of a Nikon Camera (a D90) and the words Keep Calm and Snap on below it :)

You post that with no photographic evidence?? shame on you :(

And a D90? I'd of at least gone full frame ;)

Tattoos are such a dividing issue, and although more acceptable still have a stigma attached.

I love tattoos, but hate bad tattoos, or tattoos done "just to have a tattoo". I have some tattoos, and am getting some more done and will continue to do so. I get ones that represent things in my life, past present and future. I am thinking of something involving a camera, as it is a huge part of my life, but personally I don;t see the point in getting Canon or Nikon on it, as it is the same to me as putting a nike logo on your arm.

I have the urge to get 'Canon' done in the proper font and the like on the inside of my right wrist. Only an inch and a half long or so, not big. In a couple of years maybe so I'm definitely sure I want it (and to make sure I don't get the wrong name if I switch to Nikon while at uni :p) but I'd like to get it at some point. My friend (who is a gaming freak, she's completed CoD MW2 and WaW on veteran and is cracking through Black Ops on veteran at the moment) is getting a d-pad on the left wrist and the cross, square, triangle and circle on the right wrist this week as a birthday present.

Tattoos are a bit like clothes. Tasteful and well done and they look great. Sometimes they just look bad.

The worst ones are the ones who, when they see your arms, insist on showing you their tattooes, or telling you what they want to get when they get the money.

The ex mrs was obsessed with getting terrible tattoos, she just wanted them for the hell of it! She had a tribal style one done on her arm, which ended u looking a lot like the old soviet flag. She's now stuck with my name on her shoulder too.

I love tattoos, but hate it when people don't put any thought into them, it's going to be there for life so it has to be something you REALLY want!

I am part way through having a memorial tattoo done which involves a camera. The tattoo incorporates my late fathers Olympus trip 35, which was the only camera he never passed down to me when he was upgrading. After he passed away last November I found out that the camera was a 21st birthday present to him from my mum, so holds great sentimental value. The tattoo will also contain a scroll of camera film wrapping around the camera with the words 'remember the good times' written through it, taken from a line in a letter he left for me before he died. Obviously this tattoo holds a lot of meaning for me and is also linked to my love of photography, something else which I 'inherited' from dad!

Not necessarily - modern inks migrate much less than older ones did, so fine lines should stay reasonably fine for longer than they used to. They should also stay blacker rather than fading to green.

Hope so, have had some work done recently, with lots of fine lines.

I have an EF 800mm Tattoo, but dont ask me to show it to you :D

There seems to be a few tattoo threads on here.

I dont understand why people get so negative and worked up about them. I mean saying you hate them like they in way offend you to me is crazy. My tats have great meaning to me. Only yesterday i got started on a new pretty large peace.

part of me fancies having a couple of these logo, really small, on the inside of my left elbow. Dunno why, but I quite like them :)

The other part of me turns into a 6 year old girl at the mere mention of needles

I like that idea. Subtle photography related tat.

Its painfull, anyone who tells you id wont hurt is lieing but you just deal with it for the sake of the art.

I did 3 hours last night just on the outline. Got about 6 more hours to go in 3 weeks to get it all finished.

Yep i think they would work the best. Simple tat like that wouldnt take long at all so i am sure you would cope. I know some great artists in our area if you want there details ha.

Its great because photogrpahers will understand the meaning while its not an obvious as a great big camera.

Doesn't Lily Allen have smile on her finger, and Rihanna has shhh

I think it's cute, would love one myself but am job-hunting so will hold off a little longer I think. I have several tattoos and am considering my next one :)
