Hey Folks,

Just found the forum and thought I'd sign-up and say hello.

I've always loved photography but have never really taken it seriously - never owned a "proper" camera!

I'm keen to really get into photography now - I'd love to shoot weddings one day - but have a few years of learning between now and then.

My first task is that I have no idea about camera-types or lens types - there is sooooo much information out there and I'd love a steer on a low budget DSLR system - any advice?

Hoping to take a course or two soon :-)

Thanks all

Trev

Hi Kev :welcome: welcome to the forum

Treat yourself to a decent camera or photo mag, you can't beat thumbing throught the reviews and such like.

Hi Trev and a warm welcome to TP.
Hope you enjoy yourself here :)

With regards to system you should get - first of all, decide on your budget and then get to a shop and try a few different makes / models out to see which feels best in your hand / whose buttons fall the better for you and which menu system you feel at home with....

As said before, get out there, experiment, ask etc. On buying your gear as I have found out, the camera body is not quite as important as the camera lens. You can have a fantastic body with a budget lens and the photo could be better shall we say, the photo will be good, just could be better! If your budget can stretch get a decent lens. If later, you decide to upgrade, you might not get all your money back, but you will get a fair chunk of it back.
