Do you have any planned? Are there certain things about your photography that you are aiming to change/stick to in the new year?

I for one am resolved to giving my portfolio into a more tied together/uniform look rather than it being a variety of differing styles - that and always making the effort to use custom WB using my grey card as it really makes a difference to my shots.

Think that's about it but we'll see a bit closer to the time
Have a good one everyone

I'm going to spend a bit of time trying to get my head round colour profiling. :gag:

Well I bought my DSLR with the idea of getting into people/portrait photography, and Im going to push myself into that area.
I say push because since winding down my nails business my confidence seems to have wound down with it, and so due to lack of space and confidence, Ive foolishly turned away the models who have approached me, tut!.

Also, having seen Dod's idea of 'A year in pictures' I intend to keep that in mind, start a specific folder for it, and try and come up with at least one picture a month that I am happy with and that I feel best represents my artistic direction & put it into there.

Im also going to promise myself to reread my camera manual, sort a proper workflow in my Post-Processing, and to try & improve on my results in camera.
Think theres plenty there for my little brain to be getting on with.

Well after spending what is a small fortune (to me anyway) on a new camera i really had better get out with it a lot more in the new year. I really need to improve my skills, and i really dont like photographing people, so i am going to try more with that also.

1. Sort out Noddy website into something halfway decent looking
2. Commit to a specific photo project for slow release into the forum.
I am going to regret making both...

erm...guess I have a few:

  • Build my website (only been planning to do that for 2 years now)
  • Start a photoblog
  • Purchase lightroom and sort a propper workflow out
  • Get out with the camera at least once a day (when possible - which is most days)
  • Get at least one shot into "explore" on flickr (just because I want to)
  • Do lots more night photography (which also means getting a remote shutter release and good tripod)
  • Try and build my own style of processing

Think that will do for now :p

Okay here are my photographic resolutions for 2008 -

- Learn Lightroom and develop a new workflow around it
- Develop a decent filing/back-up system
- Enter as many competitions as I can
- Audit all photos on my website and keep only the best
- Be more proactive in creating paid work through my ComicShots.com project
- Get some images onto Alamy
- Start practicing with studio lighting.
- Create a non ComicShots website for other work
- Earn enough to justify the outlay for a D300 and a 70-200 2.8 AF-S VR

I'll let you know how I get on.

For 2008

- Sort my website out properly
- Improve my studio based work
- Get published!

That will do for now I think :)

Here are my list of photographic new years resolutions. This list is provisional for now and if I think of any more I will add them :)

1. Sort out my website, keep only best images on there and sort out watermarking them

2. Organise my workflow, learn more about lightroom and devolop my post processing style

3. Write down all the project ideas I have floating around my head and actually get out and start working on them.

4. Continue to practice with studio lighting and shoot some more models (shot my first model a month ago and have a real taste/excitement for it)

5. Make a concerted effort to shoot other things apart from motorsport even during the motorsport season.

I have but one resolution... to find the time and funding to complete a personal project and hopefully get it exhibited somewhere.

Hmm I'm not sure. I was going to say get a book published but I'm already waiting to hear back on that. I'm also doing a full 3 weekish exhibition. So I dunno. They're pretty big things as they are. I guess just keep at it, which is obvious really. Um... Be less shy, more decisive, more professional.

Mine is to do the Photo A Day thang :D

It should be 1. Learn how to use my camera properly () 2. Learn how to take a photo properly () 3. Learn how to process properly ()

well as a newbie to DSLR learn as much as i can about my camera, and hopefully get some good shots - im going to Crufts in March and really want to be able to take some good photographs this time (after all the blurry ones i got this year with my P&S), also improve my PS knowledge

Going to get out more and take more shots.

Learn to use the camera reasonably well which means understanding and remembering more of the manual than I do at the moment! Hoping to get the book understanding exposure for christmas, so that should help a bit.

Getting out more to use it and hopefully get some decentish pictures to start with, and some nice ones by the end of the year.

Learn to do more than just crop and resize in photoshop

I am thinking about shelling out the money on a Canon 400mm F2.8 as a life time purchase lens, moving my 300m F2.8 in the process. Its £4,500 - I do want one however and when that bites well, I usually get it.

Will see.

Pete.

Finish writing my photoblog and portfolio sites and do some landscape photography.

Buy a macbook pro too, before I die of stress from using my slow pc. :)

1. Learn more about how photography works i.e. the technical stuff!
2. Stop spending money on new equipment and learn to use the stuff I have to its full advantage.
3. Take more pictures - if you don't make mistakes, how will you learn?
4. Sort out my post-processing technique and image storage.

I think that'll do for now, as I'm not know for my resolution-keeping skills these will probably keep me busy enough.

1. Learn how to use Nikon's Creative Lighting Sustem inside out and upside down;
2. Use more off camera flash for to create (hopefully) dynamic images;
3. Sort out my marketing;
4. Rethink these resolutions in March/April :D

I have one photographic desire for the coming year

Shift the block that's hampered me this year and actually get out with my camera.

pleeeeeease help me achieve it :)

I dont do resolutions, i usually set myself a target to get shots i am happy with of certain subjects in the wild, not captive, this year was Otter and Kingfisher, got the Kingfisher (but now i want to do better lol) didnt get the Otter so will carry that over, got a Bittern which was pleasantly unexpected :) i think i want to get better shots of my neighbourhood peregrines, a really nice shot of an Osprey think that will do for now lol

Im also hoping to go on Safari next year or the year after but will see how i get on ;)

Me too! Having seen that I have a shutter count of about 7K over 3 years  I am going to try and get out more with my camera, and make a conscious effort to take part in the TPF monthly competition. This year has been manic, and next year looks set to be even worse, what with my impending emigration to Canada, but maybe that will make me want to take more photographs :)

1. Learn to drive so I can get out to different places
2. Go on more Wildlife workshops (going on a leopard one in march)
3. New website (working on that one at the moment)

My main resolution is to keep at it and enjoy it.

oh anbother one is to take a photo of a BEK coz i know there is one round here, although i cant get close to them without feeling terror. i am gonna do it lol

pass my driving test then I can go where I want when I want to take pictures :D

1) Wean myself off HDR :)
2) Learn how to process images properly!
3) Understand my new 40D inside and out!
4) And get out with my camera much much much more!!!!!

1. Learn how to use all the buttons on my camera
2. learn how to use photoshop and lightroom properly

I'm gonna get a good sleeping bag and some camping gear and get to the locations I want and just pitch a tent on a hill side....think this will be better than trying to get to the location in advance of sunrise from say a B&B.....would suit me better to just pop out my tent and just set up my tripod a few meters away....and if I don't get the shot I'm after I just keep going back until I do.

- Finish my book -- it's only been in progress three years. :|

- Establish and/or expand my client base in Charleston, SC and London.
