Are any of you lot setting a photographical New Year resolution? I think mine will be to get more Birding in and cut down on my macro time (not cut it out completely ;)). Oh yeah and to get a 100-400 to help achieve the results I'm after.

yep :D

a few mainly

1 try and get better at my portraits..

and give more crit on here... well imho anyway

md:thumbs:

and get a website....

100-400mm, 10-20mm, build the website that I have just bought the domains for, and lastly, but by no means least, improve my photography.

To improve my architecture photos. WIll be helped when I get the Siggy 10-20 in January!!

To perfectly compose at least one photo!!

To slow down, think and then shoot!

Oh yes, and get myself some assisting experience too.

happy xmas all X

Mine is just to get out there much more often.

Having only got into photography this year, I realise I need to make more of an effort now as experience is everything. I absolutely love taking photo's, have learnt tonnes from this website and now need to put it into practice.

1. To get out and shoot more.
2. Shoots things out of my comfort zone.
3. Win POTY at my camera club.
4. Keep enjoying my photography
5. Get some more paid work

1, Improve
2, Find time to get out more
3, Get better pictures
4, Try to save enough for a 400mm f/5.6
5, Get more pics I am happy with

Make more effort to travel for my wildlife photography, both within the UK and out of it. That's my main one. Hoping to go to Finland in the summer to photograph Bears, so that would be a start!

Buy A Nikon DSLR and lens and start using it as much as possible, redo my website and start taking more Weddings

My New Year resolution is to get enough practice at being a second shooter as a wedding tog to be able to make a good stab at it on my own. 2010's resolution will be to make some money at it. 2011 and beyond will be to make more money from it than the previous year.

I don't think I've ever kept a New Years resolution though.

The Bears in Finland is something i have been thinking about doing too Richard, also Golden Eagles in Norway :)

I get about a bit with wildlife togging, but i dont set new years resolutions, what i do is set myself targets ie this last year, to get a decent pic of a kingfisher i can be happy with, and an Otter and an Eagle, i had dippers on there too but failed on that one. Now i want to improve all of the above, and get Dippers in as well ;) and im sure ill set myself some other easy to manage targets for next year on top of those lol

To start shooting in RAW and learn to use Photoshop properly..............and to get out and take more photos!

Better not tell my wife about the last bit yet though.

I have quite a few..

1. Create an online photography portfolio
2. Participate in a photography exhibition
3. Get published
4. Keep a photoblog for 2009
5. Create a photography Myspace profile
6. Finish half used rolls of film and get them developed
7. Try pinhole photography
8. Create a hard copy of my portfolio
9. Brush up on my photography theory

People may laugh, but I am seriously thinking about picking up a 5D Mark II to have a play with. Thats all. Will carry on taking photos but try some video stuff too.

To stop fretting about the equipment I have or don't have and make use of improving my basic photography skills. The weakest link in the chain is me.

To make a real attempt at getting my head around photoshop for practical, usable resuts.

1. Get a shot in Autosport
2. Get a press pass for at least one meeting at Oulton this year
3. Get out and do more areas of photography.
4. Enter every round of the TPF photo comp thingy.
5. get a 100-400 L
6. Get a firework shot to take Petemc's and Edinburghgarys breath away (not forgotten)

Think that will keep me busy :)

Nice thread Alby, think for me it's going to be:

1. Get out there and shoot more (TP meets, walks, street, etc)
2. Post some photos for C&C on TP
3. Enter the TP POTY competition each month for 2009
4. Improve my technique - setup, composition, think about the end result.
5. Learn how to do some basic PP
6. Get some prints done (too often they just sit on my hard drive!)

I'm not entirely sure what mine should be, maybe try and spend less time at the 10mm end of the focal range. Or perhaps force myself to get out a bit more instead of just waiting for the nice weather. I definitely need to improve though, that's always on my list of things to do.

Take more portraits
Get my website and business cards sorted (hopefully this will happen before the new year, but I know what I'm like)
Hang up the prints I've made
Shoot more film

get my leg fixed 100% so i can take pictures for longer. Get out and shoot more. Set up my kitesurfing photography business in the Caribean and never come back to the UK :D

1) Attend at least as many motorsport events as 2008 (26 in total)
2) Experiment even more
3) Enter more competitions
4) Learn to process my images in Elements

1. To get out more and stretch myself and improve the areas I know I'm crap at like landscape and street
2. Buy a new lens or two looking for a 70-300 initially.
3. Stretch my creative boundaries
4. Attend a course and improve my technical knowledge
5. Get up the courage to attend a meet so I can pick the brains of fellow togs
6. Just generally improve my photographic abilities so I can comfortably call myself a photographer
:)

my photography resolutions are,

1. start looking at getting paid jobs that havent happened by being in the right place at the right time.
2. build my home studio.
3. Stop the wife stealing my budget :p
4. Build confidence.

Hum - I was thinking this the other day. Dunno what my objectives are for next year.

I took a 10 week photo course at the start of this year and entered POTY to push my photography - both have helped me lots. I've had quite a few published photo's this year too.

So I dunno - perhaps do that portrait course I was thinking of

Edit: I know - submit more on here for critique

1. I need to get out much much more than i do right now, having a baby (our first) in March has really restricted my movements to a point where i don't get the camera out of the bag for weeks on end.

2. I have a wedding to do in August so need to get in some low light stuff before then

3. Replace my 18-200 with either a 70-200 or more likely a 70-300VR

4. Try this street thing!

5. Get a website up and running

6. Sell something :)

I could go on but i'm unlikely to do anymore than that to be honest!!

I forgot:
Get an avatar on here and set up a blog, which will be starting on 1/1/09

1. Work on my home studio
2. Get more paid work
3. Get better :D
4. Win a TP comp :D

Stop buying stuff and start using it.
Take one picture I'm truly happy with.

I'm keeping my ambitions low.

It would be nice to just pick up the camera again, haven't had it out of the bag for about a month now, might even be more :(

Dodsie what has come over you man, go sort yourself out NOW!! ;)
