Photography Morals

Och, stuff the morals. Anyone with any ounce of humour would love to see the picture. :)

I'd say post it and be done with it. It definitely sounds like some posters on this thread seem to be making too much of a "meal" of what actually sounds quite funny.

I agree
and to have one calling me sick and cowardly is quite frankly beyond the pale
over a bit of humorous banter

Andy700 I find your comments rude and insulting
I started this thread with a bit of humor in mind and to be called such names by you when you dont know me at all is not nice

Mods would you mind closing and deleting this thread please

Fine, but I would have only called you those things if you had decided to post them on the internet.
How about going up to the bride and groom, face to face, like a man, and telling them what you have captured, and then asking them if they mind if you post them on the net?

If you can manage that, then I will retract what I said.

I find your attitude insulting, the thought that you would even consider posting something like this on the net.

Remember folks, the next time someone gives you a hard time, when you are taking "snapshots" of them, it may be because you are being a complete tool.

Possibly my last post on this subject.
It is quite surprising to read the indignant responses of people who think that I have been rude and insulting, when the OP and the people supporting him, would be quite prepared to post unsolicited shots of a bride on what should be her happiest day. These pictures could be posted on the net for anyone to view, and the result could possibly make her very unhappy.
What a very sad bunch of individual, keyboard warriors you are!

Don't ever watch You've Been Framed or you will have a coronary event.

"my wife thinks the image is funny but says it is pretty nasty to post it
- so I have decided against posting it"

I think you made the correct decision not to post it. Nothing at all wrong with you having a laugh at it in private.

I just don't see the difference between this and any other candid shot. Can someone please explain?

Sorry Andy, but you're the only one posting aggressively here and everyone else is pretty chilled, I don't think you could accuse anyone other than yourself of the latter part of your post!

You seem to be working yourself up about what is quite a light hearted subject matter.

hang on,

a person picking their nose right, thats what we're talking about?

from some of the replies here you'd think that this was an underwear accident and the bride had her genitals out in the photo.

Some of you lot should get yourself a sense of humour and stop overreacting.

This area of the forum is discuss photography related subjects is it not??

and after seeing how the thread has turned into farce over something which was started by me as a bit of light hearted banter has me Labelled as Sick and other such comments
has me asking why bother posting anything including giving critique which I always try to do
but am quickly losing my enthusiasm for this place with such People turning innocent threads into personal attacks

Edited - for bad forum etiquette apparently.

Sorry - it's just I'm not someone who does things behind peoples back. I'll pm if theres a next time.
Thanks

it's poor forum etiquette to tell someone you have reported their post, just report it, don't inflame the discussion.

To be honest I would rather people were "up front", talking straight.
The person who reported me, did so for a comment aimed at someone else, the comment in question would have applied if the photo had been posted on the net.
The OP also thought that he would be annoyed if someone posted a picture of him doing the same thing, so that begs the question - why even think about doing it?
I do not think that I have been insulting, but I will retract the comment which I made in reply to Spike's post if he feels that way.
Just because it is currently fashionable to behave in a "laddish", "boorish" manner, it does not necessarily make it OK.

Andy no need to retract anything that you said in responce to my post as I am not that bothered as I thought the comments where directed at the OP not me.
I did have to read it twice though to be sure because if I thought for one moment they where directed me I would have reported you as I found it to be a little strong for something so stupid as a pic of a woman picking her nose. Have an opinion but donot throw insults. calling people sick because they find a pic of a woman picking her beak I find a little OTT and should really grow a sense of humour or if not keep the comments to themselves.

This thread really brings out the bad side of TP, in 62 posts(at the time of typing) only two people are up tight about this, that says something to me.

Ok if this sort of pic was posted in this scenario would the people still be up in arms

Guy standing on a busy street taking candid photos and after 150-200 shots he goes home pleased with his work, PP's the pics and post a few on here for crit or even for us just to look at and then he posts "oh and this one I find amusing the bloke walking down the street picking his beak". would the same people still be up in arms????

62 posts but not 62 people replying - only 28 (I think :) ) and I cannot find 2 people who are uptight.

Regarding your scenario - I would not have replied in such a case but the OP asked about his morals:

its not even a great picture just funny (to me) so are my morals of a low standard for finding it so funny and wanting to post such an image

I know if it were me that had been 'caught out' I would be pretty upset at it being pasted all over the net

therefore I answered his question - obviously my opinion which, on this thread, is a minority one - 14 to 5 I think so far :D

Come on guys, it's just a woman picking her nose. Snot worth getting so worked up about :p

All this bickering and not even ONE pic of someone picking their nose!! :shake:

I think a lot of problems these days are caused by people living what I would describe as a "sanitised life".

A life without risk.

Working hard, keeping your nose to the grindstone, having 2.4 kids, washing the car every sunday, mowing the lawn, never causing offence, always careful never to offend, drinking sensibly, eating healthily, going to the gym, buying a Barratt home, having a 2 week package holiday at the beach each year.

Then when anything risky, or slightly offensive is encountered they are simply not able to "cope".
