Until I got my camera I never used to go out for walks in the country/parks etc. This afternoon I had the urge to take more photo's so I packed my camera, made a flask of coffee and went out, the only problem being it was -3 outside :(

Well after 2 hours of walking and freezing to death I came back home to find I had taken 165 photo's

Looking back at this afternoon I think I have learnt more about my camera in those 2 hours than I had the previous week, because I had the time to play with the settings and was under no pressure to get the shot in time like motorsport which I usually do.

All in all a great afternoon and I feel alot better for the walk also :)
Really looking forward to 2009 to see what photo's it brings.

Good isn't it. I was out in -2 degrees, was out about half an hour taking pics and I managed about 40.

Was good to get home though and feel the warmth

I was sitting outside, coughing, and getting some bird pictures earlier and also trying out the settings, particularly the ISO on my new camera. You will probably find you go to all sorts of places, I am gradually working my way around all the places I have walked my dogs over the years but now with a camera

Me too i've even brought myself the gear to cope with the wind and cold being that in Devon I have so much cost and countryside to choose from and hope to get out more whatever the weather.

Picked up some lightweight waterproof trousers today along with Flasks to go with my new jacket, fleeces and Tamrac Expedition 7x bag which is bigger than i thought and i'm hoping to try it all out proper tomorrow morning.

Just hope the sky clears slightly as going to get up and out for about 6-6:30, so the thermals will come in handy as i think it will be cold!

Like you Sturs hopeing to do so much more in 2009 that i wouldn't have normally done before taking up photoghraphy this year.

Mike

I was planning to be out in -3 taking lots of sparkly frost shots but the fog never lifted
Same here, but it was the miserable grey skies that stopped me :(

Still, it's crystal clear out there now, and about -4 already, so I'll be up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to try out the new beasty

I never used to just go out with the camera as my bridge camera was carp and I couldnt do anything with it really. It only just coped with motorsport (well that is if the light was bob on) but since I got the 400D I am out everywhere

How many keeper did you have and after viewing did you have the urge to go back and do better? that is what I find photography does to me.

i went out for over two hours today and took over 100 photos, but only half a dozen were keepers. i enjoyed myself though:D

I have kept about 15 pics thats all  but I am going back out again this afternoon to get some better shots of the one area.
