Photography Magazines

Tbh, I find they all have something useful in every issue. I really like practical photographer and digital camera. Only reason being is that's what my dad used to buy and I'd read them

As above, all have something useful in.

Dont subscribe though, just pick up any that look of interest.. After a while you start to feel like they are repeating themselves in the tech articles.

There are some very very good blogs/sites for learning from, I prefer those to mags now :)

I buy photoplus monthly easy to read plus the photo fixer comes in handy

There is a new mag out called "Photography for Beginners" , might be what you are looking for .:)

The two I read are Amateur Photographer and Outdoor Photography which I subscribe to on my iPad which is brilliant!!

I get photoplus very good mag plus if your a canon user it`s 100% canon bonus

I like photoplus and its sister magazine Digital Camera, also practical photography. I prefer instructional videos like Karl Taylor's on YouTube though for actually learning photography as I'm more of a visual learner anyway and they are very good for showing the basics.

I've found Practical Photography and Digital SLR Photography the best out of the (huge) bunch, with a lot to read each month. Practical Photography have even been covering the basics for the last few months with the 'Boot Camp' series.

I've bought nearly all of them at some point, and will buy any of them if there is something of interest in it.

If you can get to a store which sells them all have a look through and see what catches your eye. There are about 14ish different mags to choose from.

Photoplus (totally Canon dedicated) is the one I have subscribed to along with practical photography. Got 6 month subscription from Practical photography for a tenner and got cashback through topcashback.co.uk as well. Got Photoplus subscription as a present for xmas also got a free gift with it. The makers of Photoplus have also just brought out a new mag called Practical Photoshop totally dedicated to photoshop mainly the CS versions with video DVD with full step by step instructions every month, photoplus also comes with a video DVD but mainly concentrates on Photoshop Elements. Practical Photoshop have also got an offer on where you can get 3 issues for a fiver to try it out. www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/phop11 bear in mind though that if you don't want to carry on the subscription after you have had the 1st 3 issues you have to inform them in writing to cancel it. If you do want to carry it on they charge £27.49 by direct debit every 6 months. Not a bad price considering it is £5.99 per issue in the shops.

All in all I think that photoplus if you are a canon user is well worth a look, Practical photography is also worth a look. If you also use photoshop as well I would sugest Practical Photoshop magazine for the step by step instructions in the mag along with the video guides.

Hope this helps.

What will you do with the remaining 14 hours?

Get a Lee Child novel. Tripwire or The Visitor I recommend.

I think you're better off buying a couple of decent books than photography mags - better value for money and more comprehensive

Hi, My 1st. Post.

I came very much to this conclusion today, whilst perusing about 15 titles in WH Smiths, where a 'zine cost from £3.99, you can get a more completed publication from approx £7.00 and upwards, without the 30 or 40 pages of advertisements.
