Hi guys,

Just wandered across the students guild wanting to hire a photographer (part time) for press and marketing stuff.

Job description:
This is an excellent an opportunity for anyone interested in photography and looking to gain greater experience. The hours are variable with some evening and weekend shifts. Experience of an SLR camera, flash, lighting and Photoshop is essential.

You will be taking pictures of Guild events, activities and services for use in publications and online.

Reliability and able to work to deadlines, along with a mature attitude and a good work ethic are key to this position.

They want a cv and 'examles of your work' by wednesday

I don't personally know the guy, but I do know the guilds web guy quite well so I will be sking him if there is any other info...


The question is what examples should I send and how should I mod my cv and who should I choose as references (I'm thinking a pro tog I have assisted who has a fair bit of weight and the uni newspaper editor to say I am good with deadlines)

I've been hunting round the guild site and found the photography to be limited in quantity and quality both of which I can improve on significantly

the thing thats got me going is which images to submit

Generally never a good sign, how much pay are we talking? If it's not much it really won't be worth your time, even CV wise, unless you can't find any other tog work that is.

crap 6.50 an hour or something, but its on campus and part time, just what I want to work around my degree

That's a fair price, go for it. I've just seen plenty of adverts like this one, which end up being a lump sum of £20 job lot.

Back fully on topic:
Without seeing any of your pics, can't say what to submit, a link to your flickr perhaps? Generally though, just submit photos like the ones you'll be taking, I surmise; group shots, maybe events?

To mod your CV make it all about photography, a multi area CV doesn't work anymore. CV's now are not so much paragraphs about yourself, more just lists of past work and qualifications.
