I'm not married yet..
..... But I would be completely honest on the camera gear I get when I do... Cause fortunately I don't have incredibly expensive tastes!
i'm only 14
i use my pocket money
somehow i have a D300s and a Bigma
Since March 2008, I've spent £2750
Oscar![]()
Photography is an expensive hobby Ohhhh yes
we are our own worse enemies, here we are in the middle of a recession house prices falling, car prices falling, photographic prices rising, we seem to be buying more and more and finding money for our kit, while there is such a demand prices will keep rising, if we all stopped buying prices would fall.
simplessssss

Power to the people, I have maintained that theory for a long time now. If for example evrybody boycotted the most expensive petrol station in their area they would soon bring the price down.Power to the people, I have maintained that theory for a long time now. My photography kit is free i.e. its all paid for by the work it produces. Lots of effort involved but it pays off. It's always nice to do a job for £1000 or so and know you can put it towards a nice new L lens or whatever.
On glass:
I have bought one decent piece of Nikon glass per year.
I bought a 105mm 2.8 VR this year.
I'd really like a 24-70 f2.8 but my own rules state I have to wait until 01/01/2010!
There you go. My system and it works nicely. Wife knows about it and she loves the pics (so do the rest of the family and friends).
Way i look at it - these pics are things that we hold as memories and will look back on in the years ahead - if i had some other hobby...such as going to the Casino or Real Ale or Whisky Collecting...then I wouldnt neccessarily have that and I certianly would have nowhere near any of the decent shots I have of family and friends....
I don't bother shopping around for petrol. There's never more than 3p or 4p variation where I live, which is about two quid...
I think that's odd.
Such a relaxed approach in general might be costing you £000's each year.
I've done £9500 this year so far and you know what.....It's worth every damn penny![]()
my partner Liam has been working overtime every week for the last two months to help me afford my D700 - he could not be more supportive, considerate and loving regarding my passion - its not a hobby though, definatly a career move![]()
I think it helps that i have been getting more and more photographic paid jobs, he understands my needs and helps me whenever he can
cant fault him really!
My OH is pretty good, she'll let me spent what I want as long as the family and bills are all paid for
