Photography in public 'banned' in Hungary

I never knew Hungary still existed.

Utterly untenable and impossible to enforce.

And so the Iron Curtain come down again in Hungary, so all those photos taken in 56 of the Hungarians standing up to the invasion of the Russians would be illegal now to take :(

Headline says "LAW", article says "CIVIL CODE".

So it's now got a similar law to Spain and Switzerland?

People are stupid. /thread.

Hungary 1956 - attempted revolution against Soviet control
Czechoslovakia 1968 - invasion by Soviet forces

And I'm sure the Soviet authorities took a dim view of photography of both of these events at the time.

Sorry remember last night it was 56 in Hungary  :$.

I guess I will start checking countries I plan for the silly laws now. It's a shame, I wanted to visit there.

I have heard (or read) exactly the same thing from Americans about not wanting to visit the UK any more after some of the recent news stories concerning police harassment of photographers.

Steve.

Having taken images in Spain, Switzerland, Germany in the last year, and seeing others do so, then this clearly is a load of old tosh!

It is almost as if the internet wants to scare us all into submission.

Snap, I had no problems at all shooting people in Berlin.

It is different in Germany, also its going to mainly affect photographers who are pro working in Hungary, and the law only came into affect on the 15th of March this year.
And i still think its a very bad law :(

It isn't tosh. It's just not enforced. The laws still exist.
