Looking for peoples experiences with photography in america, more specifically Orlando. With the death of a close relative, we've decided on a 2 weeks family holiday in Florida.

Is it worth taking the DSLR? I can't find much in the way of photography locations other than the kennedy space centre, does anyone have any good experiences or advice?

Sorry to hear of your loss.

I always take mine when we go, there are lots of places to visit that are photogenic (even the theme parks) and there are loads of nature reserves dotted about the area.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

On the camera front take it - you'll regret not

Hi,

I'm also facing the same dilema really.

I've decided on not taking the DSLR into the parks as i'd much rather be on the rides enjoying myself than photography :D

However i will be taking it for when were not in the parks, as you say Kennedy Space Centre. Orlando is a very photogenic place and i would regret not taking it :)

In my opinion, take it, but leave it at the hotel while you go to the parks and use it at other times

Sory to hear of your loss too.

I've just come back (very hot!) and took just the TZ7 as I wanted to travel very light this time. Saw the last shuttle launch and it was the only thing I would have taken the DSLR for to be honest.

We did the parks and Kennedy too. Very tame squirrels at Seaworld. The safari at Animal Kingdom was quite good, more animals around than I've ever seen. Would recommend a wide angle for the rocket area at the KSC and a long lens if you want pics of the shuttle (39A and 39B) and Delta IV rocket launchpads. We also did the Boggy Creek airboat rides this time which was exhilarating and great for dragonfly's on the reeds and OSPREY... and gators of course! I hear there are some springs in the Orlando area - see http://www.orlandosentinel.com/travel/attractions/orl-trav-springs-intro,0,1242336.story

Have a great time
