Hi all, I know its been a long time coming but I now have my ShutterBug 1 day workshops running again. The workshops will be running throughout July, August, October and November.

After the success of last years courses I have moved the training venue to a much better location, and the material has been re-designed to fit the new location. The courses are now far more hands on and assignment oriented with plenty of guided shooting rather than classroom learning.

I will be running these courses in the picturesque forests of the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Petersfield in Hampshire. There is plenty of parking, cafe and toilet facilities and a huge secluded forest for you to learn in.

The July courses are now available for booking. There is a maximum of 10 people on each course. Payment can be made via paypal or bank transfer.

July 10th - Photography Fundamentals 1 Day workshop: 9.45am - 5pm £75 (£65 if the last 4 places fill).
Click here for full course details

August, October and November dates to follow shortly.

If you wish to book a course, either PM me or reply here, or you can contact me through the Shutterbug Training website.

I have had many members on TP train with me over the last year and a half, and the feedback has been fantastic.

If last year is anything to go by, please ensure you book early as the places filled very fast and I am limiting to 10 per course.

If you have any questions, or would like further information please feel free to contact me.

Kind Regards,

James.

For those of you wanting more information on the photography fundamentals course, here is the course overview:

The Photography Fundamentals course is designed to teach you the fundamentals of photography that everyone should understand in order to take better photos. Once you have completed this course you will understand how to control your camera to get the shots that you want. You will come away understanding photography equipment and how it works, how to compose an image, how to shoot in full manual mode for complete control and how to do basic editing to really make your images “pop”!

The course is aimed at anyone wishing to understand the fundamentals of photography and become a better photographer. You will come away with the ability to fully control your camera and never shoot on automatic mode ever again! We will cover the techniques needed for shooting portraits, landscapes, sports and many others. This course is designed to teach you everything you need to know so you can fully explore your creativity and get those shots you have dreamed of taking yourself. Trust me, when you see how easy it really is to understand all the technicals you will wonder why you didn’t do this sooner!

The course is a practical and hands on course so you will be taking photos both indoor and outdoors and reviewing the results with your trainer. The course is taught in the beautiful forests of Hampshire, inside the Queen Elizabeth Country Park. You will have plenty of time to walk the peaceful country paths with your trainer and fellow students practising your photography, and completing the photo assignments set on the day.
You will need to ensure that you bring your camera and lens selections with you on the day, along with a notepad, pen and a packed lunch (or you can buy lunch from the cafe on site).

We will cover the following topics over the course duration:

Equipment:
How does a camera work
Specifics on SLR and DSLR cameras
Film vs Digital
Lens and Camera choices
Acessories and shooting aids
Filters and gels

Exposing and taking an image:
ISO, Shutter and Aperture
Camera shooting modes
Depth of field
Focusing modes
Metering and white balance
Shooting in full manual
Composition techniques

Post production:
Reading a histogram
RAW vs JPG
Post processing techniques
Software manipulation

Ok, the places are filling up nicely, but after having been at the (new) venue again this weekend, it seems that I can actually fit a few more into the course comfortably than I could previously.

So, as an incentive for those last few places, if 4 more people sign up to the course on the 10th (I will keep track on the thread), I will drop the price down from £75 to £65 for ALL the delegates attending (yes, even those of you who have already booked your places).

Cant say fairer than that :D

Hi James
