I'm going to down in London a bit over the next week or so and I'd like to take in some photography exhibitions if I can. Could anyone point me in the right direction for what's on at the moment or recommend any that you been to?

There's a super portrait exhibition on at the National Portrait Gallery on Trafalgar Square.
(they usually have several exhibitions on at one time - so always a good bet !).

And -

Just up the road in Covent Garden - there's the Photographers Gallery.

And -
The Getty Gallery - not a big place but just off Oxford Circus and might be worth a look.

HAVE FUN ! :D:thumbs:

Thanks very much for that! I did make a mental note a fwe months back of some exhibitinos that were on but as is the way with my mental notes they got rather faded and cracked with time such that recollection is proving a rather insurmountable problem.

I have a feeling that it was the photographers gallery that I intended to visit. Now that I think of it I might pick up a copy of this week's BJP as they always have exhibition listings with a severe london bias which always annoys me but in this case will actually prove useful. Give me something to read on the train too, not that I don't have 101 other things worthy of my reading time mind....

Just found out that one of the exhibitions on at the Southbank (in the Hayward) is about Alexander Rodchenko !
Now that really will be worth a trip up the road to see !

Link for that exhibition found here:-

it IS one of the things I adore about living in London - we are spoilt rotten for photographic exhibitions

I hope that you find some right gems - if you do find some exhibition off the beaten track - give us a yell ! ;)

That exhibition doesn't start until February unfortunately :(

I'll let you all know if I turn up any gems, have made a note of your other suggestions. I should imagine that I will at least go to the NPG (Photographic portrait prize is on there) and The Photographer's gallery as they are so close together.

Thanks for the advice again!:)

I went to the Photographic Portrait Prize Gallery at the National Gallery on saturday.

Worth adding to your list of things to see, I recommend it.

I work in one of the London Luxury Hotels and we feature a lot of the locals photography around our lobby. There are some very talented artists here. You must see it to appreciate it. Keep up the good work;
