Photography equipment insurance

Glover and Howe, as highly recommended by the folk on here. Though you couldn't tell that from this thread lol.

I am processing a claim with Photoguard for a damaged lens that needs slight repair. Meant to have been responded to in 5 days which has turned into 16 days and counting, plus failure to call with decisions when they said they would. If nothing is sorted when I phone on monday to chase them, then definitely backing away from them once claim is sorted and insuring elsewhere!

claimed twice.
accidental damage.
each time it's been easy, and swift.
even to the point of.."we can't replace it for the money for which you've insured it! there will be an excess"
"I can!" one stop digital as I recall...
"okay, you source it, provide a receipt" cheque arrived 48 hours later.

very pleased with the service

Mine's on my home contents insurance. All-risks, worldwide cover, up to £2000 (which is more than enough for how much equipment I have now), covering Theft, Accidental Damage and Loss, with equipment replaced on a new-for-old basis and a £60 excess.
 
I also have it included in my home contents insurance.

I've been looking around recently and I think im going to go with Glove & Howe.

They were friendly on the phone and also told me how to get it cheaper by doing it on line rather than over the phone.
 
i was looking for camera insurance recently, and i opted for the contents insurance route. I currently rent, so my premium would be a bit higher, but i got blanket cover for all the equipment listed in my sig and everything else in the flat, with the option to specify any item above £2000. I didnt have anything worth more than that, so i didnt have to go down that route. I am covered wordwide and for accidental damage. My premium came to £200 for the year with More Than, and going through www.quidco.com I get £80 cashback. So everything in my flat inc of camera equipment is covered for £10 a month!
