Just moved to S. Wales and have come across the Ffotography organisation, which is based in the Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff. They offer quite reasonably-priced photography courses and workshops that are run in conjunction with UWIC.

I've booked myself onto their introduction to studio lighting (1 day) and advanced studio lighting (2 day) workshops. Hopefully it will be useful, having bought one studio light recently.

Hi Claire

Welcome to South Wales. Ffotogallery is great, I've done a lot of their evening courses and have enjoyed every one of them. I also use their darkroom drop-in sessions to print the old fashioned way. They also run a programme of exhibitions at the Turner House gallery in Penarth that are well worth a look. The other place to keep an eye on is the Third Floor Gallery in Cardiff Bay for some excellent photographic exhibitions.

Keep an eye out for the TP Looney meets in South Wales, all are welcome.

Hi Claire

I'm also booked on to the Introduction to studio lighting, see you there :)

The 29th, it will be my first ever photography workshop so looking forward to it.

I had an email this morning on how to get there but not what to bring.

Thanks for the advice. I'm in Saint Athan which is completely different to London (where I moved from). Need to make the most of it though, plenty of photo opportunities if the weather behaves itself.

In Wales are you mad :cuckoo: it always rains in Wales thats why its so green

good luck with the lighting courses, look forward to seeing some of your images in due course

Les

Thanks for pointing the courses out. The photo walk on the 22nd sounds interesting. (Just need to get a dslr this week).

Just received this:

Dear students,

Regarding our class on Sunday the 29th July at 10.30, please bring your cameras with you (a memory card and a battery charger just in case it runs out during the session).

A pen and a notebook might come in handy should you need to take some notes.

I am providing a full studio set for us to use, so you don't need to bring in any other equipment.

If you have any that you'd like to try out in a studio environment - please feel free to bring it with you, I will be happy to help, as much as I can, to make the most of it or work out how to use it best.

Otherwise there will be plenty to learn and practice with!
Looking forward to meeting you all on Sunday,

All the best,
Michal

Looks like there will be 10 of us, see you Sunday :)

If anyone is looking for one to one tuition in Cardiff or South Wales, I offer that as a service, please view here - Photoshop Training Cardiff

I can offer tuition on photography or the editing side, just give me a shout to discuss further :)
