Hi want to do a beginners course to photography to learn The basics, then maybe move on to bigger things later. Can anyone recommend someone in the Essex area.

are you looking for a college course, ongoing personal 121 tuition, or a weekend camp kind of thing? It might also help if youstate what discipline you want to adopt ultimately. ie, I could teach studio and landscape stuff but wouldn't touch sports.

Oh, and which end of essex are you in?

Over to you... :)

It would have to be a weekend course.I am a part time Dj and i take lots of pics and display them on a screen through out the event.

I do alot of weddings.

I live in Basildon.

It sounds to me like you would benefit most from college or a personal mentor who lives close by. With any luck someone here will come forward but you're the wrong end of essex for me...

May i suggest this http://photo.meetup.com/569/
It's not a course, and will not cost you a penny, but you wil meet like minded photographers in the area and i guarantee you will learn a lot.
They do trips out and also some studio stuff.

You want an intro course, but you do lots of weddings..... sorry, but am I missing something????

I like the sound of his intermediate and advanced courses, i am very tempted by those myself.

They are the ones I done. Its only a small class of 10 - 12 so its all freindly. Its not like a college course as its only 2 hrs once a week. Steve also does day trips that everyone can meet on (No Charge) so you can have a go at what you have been taught and he is on hand to guide you

OK! I'll give him a try. Does mentioninh your name yield a discount and net you a referral fee ha ha?

UNfortuantly Not!!!...maybe if enough mention me then he may let me have a discount when i do some further training LOL

Just an update for you guys/gals on here looking for some good quality training, I have just spent a fantastic day with Jeff Turnbull, on his Introduction to Wedding Photography course.

My son and I spent what can only be described as a full and very informative day with Jeff, 2 terrific and very patient models provided, Idyllic church and other opportunities for shooting the bride`s pre wedding prep as well !!

I have added a few pics from the day, and I can only add that hands on tuition with a skilled photographer far outways the books and videos !!!

I cant thank Jeff enough for his constant help during the day, which allowed all 8 candidates that were on the course to produce some very high quality photos. His enthusiasm for his art is contagious and everyone had a great day.

Thanks Jeff

As said above a great day with Jeff very very helpful and answered all questions that were asked. The models for the day were great as said above very patient and very helpful with experience in this field of work making it easier for the people on the course when getting models into position.

Highly recommend the course as you come away with so much more knowledge and lots of information on where to go with your photography

Just an update on my shots of the day. Very similar to ones above.

Regards

Dan

Hi Ade. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed the day. What a scorcher we had on Saturday (the weather as well as the 'Bride') ;)

Thanks for that Dan. The models really enjoyed working with you guys and as you know the 'Bride' thought you and your dad were very cheeky

Jamie, if you're free on the 18th I've got something going on in Chelmsford if you want to come along.

Once again guys, thanks for your comments, it's really appreciated.
