Hello.

Ive been entering a few competitions through "http://www.photographycompetitions.net/". Is it all for marketing because you seem to have to register on all of the linked sites. Ive come across one site and they want my full address and phone number, possibly to sell onto other companies? I know they need my address if I win but they could email me for that IF I do win. Some linked sites like wildlife trust etc seem ok but the smaller companies/organisations like "ephotozine.com" I don't wish to enter my full address.

Just wondering what everyone else thinks?

I think it features all the competitions it can find, so you need to use your own judgement as to the worth of each. I only enter the reputable looking, judged rather than voted competitions in my particular area of interest on there and have had no problems at all with those I have won / been placed in.

Ok :) Things like "Wildlife Trust" are obviously a big reputable organisation so yeah I do attempt them comps its just the other ones which im a little 'scared' of entering. Ile just stick to the big name ones :)

Quite a few of these comps are rights grabs. That is, by entering you give them the right to use your pic for any purpose without reference to you, without crediting you, and without paying you. For ever. Have a look at the Terms & Conditons. If you see something like this:

Submission of an entry grants Sponsor and their agents a license and right to use, publish, adapt, edit and/or modify such entry in any way, in whole or in part, and to use such entry alone or in combination with other works, as solely determined by Sponsor, in commerce and trade and in any and all media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide, including but not limited to the Website, without limitation or compensation to the Entrant and without right of notice, review or approval of any such use of the entry.
(from a comp run by National Geographic), you may want to think twice about giving your rights away. Some even want you to pay for the privilege!
