Photography Christmas Presents!

Got me a Nikon 35mm DX that I just had a quick play with before wrapping it up. Wasn't impressed with the results the light level meter seemed all over the place. But sure I will learn to use it well. D3300

Always learning :)

I got a manfrotto to arca plate adaptor, British Wildlife Portfolio 6 and an australian bird photography book.

Not sure yet. The in laws are coming over in an hour and we're not allowed to open anything until then!

I doubt it though as I haven't bought myself anything!

Steve.

Nothing directly photographic but I am booked in for a Meet the Tigers experience at the Dartmoor Zoological Park next month. Obviously not hands on but hopefully I'll be able to get some close up shots while I'm closer than normal!

I got an envelope which contained some cash and had the following tag attached:

14043-1451083006-a4775827ddcbdcd0ec11750ceb138636.jpg

I got a Yongnuo flash and flash controller.

Well actually, I didn't. I got a print out off the Amazon receipt as they won't be delivered until next month despite the missus ordering them at the beginning of December with a delivery date of on or before December 23rd!

I got my money back on the Yongnuo flash i ordered at start of December - was meant to come from Andoer - I'm a bit wary of reordering if they are involved

I got two photography books and the latest issue of Digital Photographer magazine:)!

Wifey let me get a Cannon EOS 5D Mk3 and two new lenses..... Well happy :)

Spare batteries and cable release for the camera system I'm saving for (Sony A7 ii or R ii), ThinkTank battery holder and memory card holder and Ansel Adams in Colour :)

Don't know about a gift for me, but daughter has acquired all of my DSLR kit.
Had to treat myself to a compact Samsung nx.

Not directly photographic but I got a new warm hat and 2-way radios in preparation for an upcoming trip to Iceland.

A couple of Sebastaio Salgado books and blu Ray.
A Lightroom book
Peter Hurley headshot book

Some flash cables and odds and ends.

Nothing much photo related

Got the newest Mike Tomkies Book, and the very photo rich "Ospreys in Wales 2004-2014" , but other than that it was either wood turning/carving related or novels and DVDs (and chocolate of course), and a new watch

Still its my birfdee in a couple of weeks so may be photo goodness will be in the pipeline for then

I got the following from Santa

Fuji XT1 plus 18-55 lens
Manfrotto compact action tripod
Format Hitech Colby Brown edition filter set
Some cash to buy myself a bag to house the above

@Phil V
Phil, what's your opinion of the Peter Hurley book, would you recommend it for an aspiring portrait photographer?

Haven't read it yet, I'll let you know.

I've watched some of his online stuff and I find him intriguing.

I've watched some of his online stuff too, he's got a good line in patter for engaging with his subject.
Not so sure about his signature look though or perhaps more the price tag for achieving that look.

I got nothing photography related. Probably my own fault though (actually definitely my own fault) because when asked, I've been banging on about how money can't buy what I need to improve my pictures. :D

I think my D3200 is about to become my daughter's soon. I will have to think about its replacement now!
This seems rather common... I had to uy mne a D3100 half a year early to avoid my D3200 dissapearing into her web of dispair!
The she got all 'my' Christmas presents to go with it! :-(
Although, O/H bought a rather neat set of Kokin-P copy filters and adaptors, for 'all of us', after moaning about the state of my old filter-case.
Daughter's gone to see her B/F;O/H has gone to work. SO, this evening, I have had the Sigma 35mm film camera on the tripod, taking B&W pics of a the fruit basket, before they demolish the grapes, with a notion to do some 'Trichrome' colour composites.. did look out of the window this afternoon and think that the sky would make a ice study in that technique... b-u-t didn't have the P&Q.. maybe tomorrow.
