Went out Wednesday night to out local woods looking for fungi and had quite a sucessful evening, last night had funny itch on my arm my missis had a look and found a tick buried in my arm and another one nearby followed by two on my leg and another two on my back, I was lied on the floor in the woods " getting a good angle " so just be careful I am keeping an eye on these bites because of lymes disease hopefully I will be fine.

Lymes disease needs early treatment so go to Docs now; after symptoms it is often much more difficult to treat.

Don't take any risk with lyme's. Unless your 100 percent sure you got the head out, I.e you visually confirmed it after removal, get to the doctors ASAP. I've had countless ticks, horrific things, my number one hated animal.

There is a demo on that website on how to remove ticks using that little tool (cheap as chips) which takes the tick out without leaving the head in.
Never squeeze a tick. It will disgorge it's body contents into you and that increases the chance of Lyme's disease.

Thought you might like to know - I got one in my dangly bits once!!

I had one on my stomach a while ago after a Macro trip. Spoke to the Dr. I Just pull it out. Doesn't matter if the head is stuck in there, it will work its way out like a splinter. If you start getting any Flu like symptoms go to the Dr.

My mum was one of a few (about 20 a year) people who had Limes disease last year. Treated with VERY stong antibiotics that made her quite sick.

I dread to think where you were dangling your bits!

are we supposed to make some sort of gag about taking macro shots of your dangly bits...?

No one will be taking shots - macro or otherwise, of my dangly bits:lol:

Any time the head has been left in when I have had ticks there has been a local infection with any itchy lump that took a couple of weeks to go down.
Same happens when my dog gets them. That little oton tool avoids that. Get the tick out then a dab of TCP does the job (except if it has given you Lyme's).

Just been down the woods again and found some more crawling up my legs no bites though think it's time for a change of aftershave !!

Chuck your clothes into the washing machine and have a bath. Sometimes they run around a bit before having a feed.
BTW - they can move quickly before they start to feed.

Use olive oil.

The trouble with the methods that involve applying a substance to make the tick release is that it takes time.
As soon as I see one of these bar stewards buried into me I have got to get it out PDQ.
